Need Advice On a Toothy Topic!

I don't usually post too much on here--but I need advice on a toothy topic.

My sister doesn't have dental insurance and she has been paying out of pocket for years on her teeth. Although she takes very good care of them, she seems to have a genetic pre-disposition to gum disease. She is at the stage now where she will have to get dental implants but that is not covered by insurance, even if she had it. I have read and done research on-line about getting implants in other countries but the implants are not regulated like they are in the U.S. Does anyone have any personal experience with dentists or periodontists in other countries such as Costa Rica that I could recommend to my sister? The price of implants in this country--the U.S.-- are around $3,0000 just for one screw! And then around $1800 to $2000 for the prosthedontic denture that attaches to the tooth! Outrageous! You could buy a house in some states for what it costs for this! For a whole mouthful of teeth! Does anyone have some practical advice for my sister? She has been to the local university that used to charge cheaper--but with budget cuts, the price is about the same as a practicing dentist or periodontist. Please offer advice, if you can.

no advice, but I have a friend that has a sister that went out of the country for gastric bypass, and she's fatter now than before, so be careful.

Regulations help sometimes. That doesn't excuse the ridiculously high price, though.

Does your Mom's dentist do implants? If so, PM me with info. Thanks.

I don't have details, but a family friend went to Mexico and had her dental work done for a fraction of the price, and she's happy.
