not out in my family. semi out to workmates(only one). my situation i call it kinda of like a crystal closet. i feel like a coward being in the closet. however in my condition and the consequences i am in there's no other option. however i will never use a poor girl use to hide my orientation. i guess i'll come to those who ask. but in a sense i came out to you guys. OH!!! Now no wonder my friends son came out today.... but he only claimed being bi-sexual.
Still his timing makes perfect sense now... he is lucky, he has great parents that support him fully. I spent my afternoon with his tearful mother she waited to only cry in front of me, she didn't want to upset her son.
All I could do is hug her and tell her that she has an awesome son and that he trusts her and that he is lucky to have such loving parents.
He is such a handsome young man too... 19 and doing very well in college. :proudofhim:

Doesn't count. | |

Tell that to his momma with the tear stained face. Poor thang.
They will be fine though.

It will eventually. We don’t mourn artists because we knew them. We mourn them because they helped us know ourselves.

sure will

She cried because he's "bi"?? Good Lord.

Cried like he was dead... when I saw her I thought something bad happened.
She Catholic, and traditional... with like 8 kids.
Um yeah... she's a throwback mom from the 50's regarding her mentality.

Makes you wonder what she would have done if he came out as gay. Ahhh me and my himagination
- E-mail - orgNote - Report post to moderator |
He will eventually if he is.
I think she wants him to have kids. I hope that's the only reason she was crying.

Pffft. Catholic family with eight kids. There's gonna be forty grandkids regardless "...and If all of this Love Talk ends with Prince getting married to someone other than me, all I would like to do is give Prince a life size Purple Fabric Cloud Guitar that I made from a vintage bedspread that I used as a Christmas Tree Skirt." Exactly!
I told her they would be fine.. she was still crying when I left her.
She has two other sons to carry on the family name. I know when I see her tomorrow she will still be in mourning.
How long do I give her before I tell her to get over it?

There are all the reasons she should be grateful. He will be less likely to have kids and frankly that usually means more able to help out aging parents.
Plus she has to be around my age. She could not possibly have been shocked. So no more then 2 weeks before she cuts the boohoos. There came a time when the risk of remaining tight in the bud was more painful than the risk it took to blossom. Anais Nin.

As long as you're not putting on an act and telling people you're interested in women, I don't really see you as being in the closet.
I'm this way. There are three female co-workers that I am open with. As for everyone else, I act the same around them as I do around people I'm open with. I don't put on any acts or lie about being with women. I simply just don't tell them a damn thing about myself and let them wonder and as for what they may think or assume, I could care less. I had one guy to ask me about myself and I asked him why did he want to know and told him that unless he was interested in getting with me, he had no reason to ask. I also told him that if he ever came to me with some shit like that again, I would make his life a living hell and do my damndest to get him fired and I meant it. I'm sure he got the word out to the others because nobody ever came to me like that again. Oh, don't get me wrong, I never deny what I am, but I don't confirm it to give them a laugh because homophobic people see being gay itself as something to laugh at. I act completely myself and I want them to know what I am even though I don't confirm it and they do know, but not for some fake friendship with them, but in case they are homophobic, I am the one getting the laugh out of it because they're pissed that they can't harass me because they're scared to. If they're not, they better be. Mystery is always better and when you don't put on a straight act and be yourself, that just pisses them off more because they know what you are but you're not being their clown.
As for my family, I'm the same way with them. Gay friends around, no girlfriends, but yet nothing has ever been confirmed to them and they are scared as hell to ask. Oh, I don't believe in this crying and asking for acceptance bullshit. If somebody doesn't accept me, and that includes family also, fuck 'em. If they ever were to ask, my reaction to them would be...."Why do you want to know? What the fuck's it to ya?". No denying it, just giving an attitude like how dare you ask and mind your own fucking business. Andy is a four letter word.

I was wtaching Tosh.0 last night, and there was this video that....well I'll try to describe it.
There was Guy #1 on a makeshift teeter-totter. There was Guy #2 that had climbed up onto a football goalpost. This is the guy to watch. He had a string attached to his pants, which was looped over the goalpost and attached to the underwear of Guy #3, who was standing underneath the goalpost.
The plan was for Guy #2 to jump on the teeter-totter, which would catapult Guy #1 into the air. At the same time, the string attached to Guy #2 would be pulled over the goalpost, giving Guy #3 an Atomic Wedgie.
So Guy #2 jumps off the goalpost and lands on the teeter-totter, which breaks. Guy #2 is writhing on the ground and crying, because his nuts have just been crushed. However, Guy #3 DId get the Atomic Wedgie, and he also was writhing on the ground. Nothing happened to Guy #1, since the teeter-totter broke.
The video zoomed up on Guy #2. What did he have tattooed on his arm?!?
The same symbol that's on your Gay Pride Lesbian Bisexual Pewter Pendant!
Of course, Tosh said, "Are you surprised the guy with the Prince tattoo is crying like a baby?"
UPDATE: I found the video! It's even more awesome than my description!

! agree. I mean straight people never had to tell their parents who they want to be with. so why should one. thank you for the great advice andy. and the rest of the orgers. i am very lucky to be in a forum with such wondeful people. if this sounds artificial--its not. when moved to this degree by such kindness..i tend to go speechless. so understand please.

She might be late 40's or so... two weeks huh? Yeah, that sounds long enough because she should be thankful he felt he could be open with her. They really do have a great relationship. She should count her blessings.
Thanks Lady T.
