Feels like a little over 2 years for me, maybe 3??  It was a few months before the Ruby Skye show in SF (which was in April I believe, I forget what year). Good NESS, my memory SUCKS... The PPML used to be on TogDog.Com in the early stages. But unforunately I was not around to see the old PML (paisley mailing list) -- which started in 1995 -- right B-side? Right Kevin? Right Matt? The PPML was an email discussion list in "digest" format. Approximately once a day, the moderators would assemble all messages sent to the list into one email and send it out to the subscribers. At some point, Ben added a feature to the PPML archive website that allowed people to send messages to the list via the web instead of email. Note that in the PPML days, all messages were (at least in theory) screened in advance by the moderators, so flame wars generally weren't a problem--Kevin, Mark, and Ben would quickly put an end to them. Also, off-topic posts would be deleted--there was nothing like our "General Discussion" forum. Please note: effective March 21, 2010, I've stepped down from my prince.org Moderator position. |

I started back in I think around 1976, yeah 1976; it was our country's bicentennial and barbecues were rife. (Can anybody say Donnie and Marie? LMAO!) Yeah, those were heady days.
We didn't have computers back then, so my friends and I -- SNOOPY558961, LINUS2347854, and PIGPEN115698 (yeah, I know, handles were crazy back then ) -- used to write silly little comments on index cards and distribute them at odd hours of the day and night.
Man the flame wars we got into.  Boy oh boy, those were the motherf'n days...
