hmm Um... I don't want to sound like a jerk, but something is odd here. I just don't understand how a woman born deaf could articulate so precisely... so immediately.

Can someone educate me?

I had the same question. So I asked a woman I know who is deaf. It comes from reading lips, she said. She's completely deaf and is quite articulate.

"does my cock look fat in these jeans?"

That's amazing... and more than a little inspiring.

If she sounded the way imago's avi looks I bet I would have.

What a let down. Had I paid to watch that I'd demand a refund.

Except, she is able to hear the woman's voice while she is closing her eyes AND understand what the woman is saying. Makes zero sense.

I guess if the first chick really is deaf, this thread goes to prove that hawt deaf people are far more advanced than common deafs. This is quite the breakthrough.

Huh?

We don’t mourn artists because we knew them. We mourn them because they helped us know ourselves.

Do you think it would be hard to "understand" the words... I mean they have never heard them spoken, only read them and signed them, so I wonder if they have ot think about what is being said...

Its all very cool!

~~~~~ Oh that voice...incredible....there should be a musical instrument called George Michael... ~~~~~
That is interesting, I did not even think of that!!
But the first girl seemed to understand when she was asked "can you hear me?"
Maybe she reads lips. But that is a very interesting question.
But the first girl seemed to understand when she was asked "can you hear me?"
Maybe she reads lips. But that is a very interesting question.
The first girl could not only read lips, but read she could read minds.
At 0:56 she responds to the question "Does my voice sound loud?" while she is COVERING her eyes. She responds by nodding with her hand over her eyes, completely unable to see the woman.
How does she know what she said? She shouldn't even remotely understand the sound of the words because this is the -first- time she has heard something. Just because you read lips and envision the sound in your brain for 30 years doesn't mean you somehow envisioned the correct sound (and in our English language, I'd be surprised if the sentence sounded anything LIKE what she was hearing in her head that whole time).
Additionally, she is asked "Is your own voice too loud?" while she is covering her face. She doesn't immediately respond, but eventually she does and says, "No not really." Well I find it impossible the woman calibrated the device or whatever to make her hearing level perfect (see the 2nd girl's video where they test it back and forth).
Furthermore, the 2nd girl (who had never heard in her life before as well) makes a visible SHOCKED response to the first sound because... Well duh, she has no fucking clue what to "hear" for. Its scary. You can see further tones, even quieter ones, and she still is writhing a bit because the rush of sound to her brain.
I think this first one is either an elaborate hoax - OR - she was not deaf her whole life and this is the "first" time she is hearing after having temporary hearing loss for some amount of time.
That is my professional opinion.
There are loads of degrees of hearing loss. Hearing cannot simply be restored when a patient has 'dead' ears.
My guess is that these women probably had a severe hearing loss - not completely deaf.
