The Most Wonderful Experience

This might sound a bit like tree hugging hippie crap but I thought that I would share an experience of a lifetime that I had today.

My wife and I were on a days diving trip with some members of our dive club and, as usual my missus was the last to suit up so we were late. The rest of the group hit the water and 4 of us said that we would catch them up in 10-15 mins. Once we got into the water things were going pretty well as we descended to 28m. We got to the bottom with about 30m visibility and the rest of the group were no-where in sight. We were just about to follow our dive plan to a small wreck when 6 dolphins turned up.It was our first pod ever encountered and they hung around for about 20 mins playing with us and all the bubbles we were making. After a while we could not keep up with them so we bored them and they swam off.
My first pod and it was amazing!!

Anyway it brightened our day.
Anyone else got anything that brightens their day?

Thanks for sharing, wish I was there!

I've never experienced this myself, but I used to love watching the humpback whales off the shores of Hawaii - never swam with them though lol

Wow, that is a beautiful experience.

I love the water and have always wanted to learn to dive, and to experience what you just described (dolphins are one of my favorite creatures..) I've yet to even get anywhere near the ocean, though.

Thank you for sharing that story.

I've snorkelled with fish before and that was breath taking. I can appreciate the impact that dolphins must have made on you both! Did you get to look any of them in the eye? My old tutor at college said that she did and that the experience changed her life... she said the energy that she felt afterwards was incredible.

What a fantastic day for you!

Yeah the interaction was amazing, they are so interested in the new things (us) that they have found. They were coming up an pushing their noses against our masks and nosing around all of our gear. When you look into their eyes you really see intelligence and interest. It was truly awesome.
The only problem is that I am not as good at swimming in their environment as they are so we only interested them for a while but it was a priveledge while it lasted.

Have you ever heard of anyone coming across, er, frisky dolphins?

I've seen a few news reports, just wondering if it's a common occurence or not.

Maybe your pod was just out on the pull!

("coming across" - no pun intended.)

Yeah I have heard of it but as yet no luck!

There was a report about a diver in Ireland who was accused of dolphin fiddling but no-one could substantiate (sp) the rumors
