I was getting very bad chest spasms in addition to non stop burping many years ago, and was paranoid I was getting heart problems. I was told to take Midol, and it was like acid reflux. I think that was the name, it was a white milky liquid and I had to have it after meals I think.

I was suffering from acid reflux for a while and changed my diet...cut down on BAGELS (some people swear that bagels cause acid reflux), greasy foods, and soda.

Also been drinking PLENTY of water.

Haven't had a bout in MONTHS.

woot!

I am so glad to hear someone mention carbs - because they're a problem for me, too.

The only time I have heartburn is if I eat too much chocolate - or a carb-heavy meal. Fat (other than the chocolate)? No problem. Meat? No problem. But a bagel...or pasta? I am in misery.

So often, one of the "cures" for acid reflux is (as it seems to be for everything) a low-fat diet. But that usually means people start loading up on carbs. That always makes it worse for me. shrug

Anybody here ever dealt with this kinda stuff? If so, how? I think I'm suffering from it. sad

keep an eye on it.

If this goes on for many years the lining of your oesophagus thickens and the cells change.

Please see a doctor and do what you can to prevent the acid wash.

I have known men who left it untreated, thought it got better. Yes, their symptoms seemed to lessen, but what happened is that they just didn't feel the discomfort so acutely any more because of the thickening. One of those 2 guys (friends of my parents) is dead now, died of oesophagal cancer sad

That's no joke. Acid reflux is not ordinary heartburn and won't go away with natural "cures." A doctor scared the hell out of me a couple of years ago and took a biopsy of my esophagus. Fortunately, it was normal. But I have to take Prilosec everyday for the rest of my life, as well as not eat late at night and avoid acidic foods.

I've had it for years and years but since I've changed my diet, I don't get it as much. Also take a look into protonix. My doc prescribed it for me and it worked wonders.
