I've had acid reflux for years. At times, it's made me very ill. I've tried changing my diet, decreasing alcohol etc, etc. Nothing has worked. Last year I started taking a perscription med called Tecta. It works very well. I take one every morning and that usually keeps the acid reflux at bay. I also don't eat late at night, I watch my coffee and alcohol intake and I take it easy with spicey and greasy foods. The meds are expensive, but I have good benefits, so as long as it continues to help, I'm going to continue taking it.

I suffer from it, but I take herbs like, ginger and slippery elm to relieve my symptoms. It's working, too.

In the days where I was really overweight, I used to have bad Acid Reflux problems. Every since I've been eating way healthier, I haven't had any of those problems in years. I haven't drank any carbonated drinks in 5 years. I don't eat many fried foods, red meat or restaurant food much at all. But it could just depend on the person......

I've tried ginger too, but it didn't work for me at all. Glad to hear it's helping.

I've had it for about 15 years, and I've tried every over the counter, prescription, and alternative therapy to get it under control. So far, the best thing that has worked for me is watching what I eat (try not to eat too many trigger foods like soda, coffee, greasy foods, junk food, sugary stuff, etc.), taking aloe vera juice and probiotics, getting plenty of fiber in my diet, and taking a teaspoon of pine nut oil three times a day. The pine nut oil is the best thing which has worked for me so far, but it is not a panacea. You have to keep a healthy diet, exercise, and watch your stress levels.

Your body needs more acid...

I drink apple cider vinegar, about an ounce. Kills the heartburn instantly... I do it daily and lay off the greasy/fast foods. hug

I would google the effects of drinking apple cider vinegar, its an OLD school rememdy, that Kevin Trudeux dude also co-signs using it as heart burn relief , as a natural cure.

Slippery elm is supposed to be good for healing wounds too... and its like a pepto if you get tummy issues and the squirts.

I think its good for ulcers too.... if memory serves correct... Imma look it up in my herbal book. Its one of the least used herbs.

I used to use it for sore throat... they came in lozenges. Good stuff... makes sense its also good for heartburn. smile

When mines act up I drink a little milk. We usually get the skim milk but in my opinion the whole milk or Carnation milk works better because it's thicker.
I'm pretty convinced my acid reflux comes from stress but some my food intake doesn't help either.

Like Painted said apple cider vinegar too. Now, I've tried it myself but that's because I just found out about it.

I was suffering from acid reflux for a while and changed my diet...cut down on BAGELS (some people swear that bagels cause acid reflux), greasy foods, and soda.

Also been drinking PLENTY of water.

Haven't had a bout in MONTHS.

A while back I felt like I had a piece of popcorn or something stuck in my throat. I also had heartburn from time to time.

Somehow I traced it to my constant consumption of sparkling water. I was burning a place in the back of my throat (from burping, basically), and when I switched to regular water it went away, along with my heartburn.

Diet change is key to acid reflux. I had it-went away when I stopped drinking coke. You can raise the Headboard part of your bed by 2 inches and that can help with acid reflux along with omeprazole OTC if you have it bad. Stop trigger foods (Tomato based sauces/soda pop/coffee/greasy food/alcohol) or at least limit them and try not to eat or drink them with in 4 hours before bedtime.

My girlfriend basically cured hers with TwinLabs Super Enzyme pills, got it a local vitamin shop.

It has papaya extract in it...that did the trick.

I must not have hardcore reflux, because it only comes up usually when I lay down.

Really avoid coffee beforing going to bed. Good God, you just burn all night.

I was worried, because I saw black snot...lol

keep an eye on it.

If this goes on for many years the lining of your oesophagus thickens and the cells change.

Please see a doctor and do what you can to prevent the acid wash.

I have known men who left it untreated, thought it got better. Yes, their symptoms seemed to lessen, but what happened is that they just didn't feel the discomfort so acutely any more because of the thickening. One of those 2 guys (friends of my parents) is dead now, died of oesophagal cancer sad

Keep saltine crackers and unsweetened apple sauce handly, but I got to the health food store and get pure charcol and put the in geletin capsules and take 2 daily even when you aren't experienceing reflux. Also, don't eat after 7 pm and never reclined after eating.

My mom had it.

She swapped to a lifestyle where she ate 80% fruits and veggies and it went away.

Drink milk. It covers the inner surface of the stomach and washes the acidity away.

Is there any place of refuge one can flee from this insanity
