Say It Isn't So! New Scarface Movie in the Works

[img:$uid]http://i.imgur.com/mzkAz.jpg?2219[/img:$uid]

September 22, 2011

A new Scarface movie is in the works at Universal Pictures.

The studio is developing a new version based on elements of the 1932 original and 1983 film, according to Deadline. The movie is not intended to be a remake or a sequel.

Both pictures told the story of an immigrant who muscles into the crime scene and becomes a major underworld figure, before toppling from power because of his weaknesses.

Al Pacino took on the iconic title role in Brian De Palma's Scarface, co-starring Steven Bauer ,Michelle Pfeiffer and Mary Elizabeth Mastrantonio.

Paul Muni played the character in the first version. Howard Hawks directed the 1932 film, which also featured Ann Dvorak and iconic actor Boris Karloff.

Universal Pictures' new take on the film will be produced by the last Scarface producer Martin Bregman, with chairman of Universal Pictures Marc Shmuger.

I'm gonna avoid this like the plague. Hollywood running out of ideas at the moment and are remaking everything. The film industry is dead!

This is also my fav movie of all time, I can't bear to watch them ruin it!

Well at least they're aren't doing remakes of:

The Godfather

An Officer and a Gentleman

Out of Africa

Wuthering Heights

A Cabin In The Sky

Stormy Weather

The Cotton Club

All The Presidents Men

As long as they don't touch those gems, I'm sort of good.

no no no! shhh Don't jinx it, damn.

For real, if they remake The Godfather or any of its sequels, I'm never, and I mean NEVER going to pay any fucking money to see a movie in a theater ever again.

I will forever love and miss you...my sweet Prince.

Truthfully, Scarface was a remake. However, it does seem like this one should be left alone. Its pretty much perfect the way it is and its actually stood up to time very well. Also, there's no way they can go more extreme, so what we'll probably get is some glossy, PG-13 nonsense with a pretty boy playing the lead.

I get some remakes, where it is a very old movie most people have never heard of or seen.

But to make one of a very popular film whose star is still world famous and still a working actor seems silly.
