I'M GOING TO DYE MY HAIR BLONDE

I dont know if any of you here have this same problem and believe me I'm not racist but why is it that if you have dark hair most spanish people automatically assume that you speak spanish? I work with the public where there are alot of spanish speaking people, alot of times they dont even ask me if I speak spanish, they just start speaking it to me and it irritates they HELL out of me cause I'm not even spanish. mad

My wife is half Italian, and she has the same problem. She never was taught Italian by her mother, but people assume that she can speak it. It's quite funny sometimes. lol

She's decided to do something about now. She just started Italian lessons every week. I'm going to have to catch up on some swear words soon. hmm

My hair's not that dark, it's more of a auburn color and I have olive color skin.

Maybe because they "assume" you do speak Espanol (Spanish). Do not take it the wrong way. Try to speak a few words, they will love you for it.

Blond people suffer too. Last year. Copenhagen. Everybody instantly started brabbling Danish with me.

Not very annoying.

The bad part was that when I told that I dont get any of what they are saying some just turned around and walked away like I had some really bad, disgusting desease.

THAT was annoying.

If you're in at the beach in Holland during the summer, people always start to speak to you in German. Very annoying...

people always start to tell me blonde jokes cause I am a blonde that is kind of annoying...now I just ignore it.

Besides I like being blonde...we have more fun anyway.

However there are times when I get tired of it and go with a differen color for awhile...but I always return to my blondeness so to speak.

I doubt very well that your hair color has anything to do with it. What's so wrong with asking someone whether or not they are bilingual, and capable of communicating with them in their own language?

Quite honestly, I will laugh my ass off when you die your hair blond, and they're still asking you. smile

I dyed my eyebrows black yesterday. I'm now looking like an Italian who has dyed his hair blond and forgot the eyebrows. It sucks any way you do it.

BTW Battier: Still feeling bad that I treated you bad yesterday. I think I'm gonna slap my back with a thorned whip tonight.

"No hablar espanol" is incorrect. You have said something like "I don't to speak espanol" you have not conjugated your verb. To say, "I don't speak Spanish" you will say, "No hablo espanol." biggrin A Hispanic person would look at you as if you were retarded if you said what you've just put here.

I don't think it's right to bastardize someone's language. There's not much of a point to that, Lav. smile It's not a sin to know useful, simple phrases to use around someone who speaks a different language. They have to know useful phrases to assimilate into our society. I think it's only right to do the same. wink

I'm not, Battier. I was simply saying it, as someone who doesn't know the proper way, to say that I do not (obviously) know how to speak Spanish.

What IS a shame, is that I used to know how to speak Spanish, and lost it all by not practicing it. sad

Perhaps, if you wanted, having known it before, it wouldn't be too hard if to learn it again though. smile
