Not if you think about what I said, literally. Austria may be a small country the Yanks have never heard of ("Ahh..cool..Kaaangaroos 'n shit! Now let's parrrtaaay!"), but it still hase 9 Million inhabitans, out of which every fourth person plays an instrument, due to the very long history of music in Austria. Vienna has one of the biggest jazz-scenes in the world and I've heard a hell of a lot good bass-player here (and believe, I can tell whether someone is good or not).

"Making it" in the market outside Austria is very difficult, true, but that's not the musicians' fault. It's our national radio's and Sony's and EMI's fault. But that's a different kind of story.

Yeah, it's just the way it seems to be with me. I was drinking several 640ml bottles of beer several times a week though. With the spirits I don't tend to make my drinks that strong. I used to drink a lot of wine in my student days and had a flat stomach back then. I really only drank Guinness or wine in those days and it's only since I moved out here that with 10 years of drinking beer my gut has, albeit relatively gradually, grown to its present glory. I swear after just a week of no beer I'm already seeing the difference!

It's probably the change of food, too! Beer only usually doesn't make a belly fat, but combine it with a steak or something greesy and you have the effect of three pints, belly-wise.

I consume less calories out here though. I do have steak, maybe once a week. I have other 'farang' food like pasta, maybe 3 times a week. I eat lots of healthy food, but I do eat a fair bit of junk too (pizza, fries, burgers), but then I always did. When I talk about my gut it's all relative though. I'm a skinny guy and my gut's nothing you'd even see through a shirt, but compared to what I've always been used to it's more than I'd like. It has to go! Fat and carbs are all good for my physique (ectomorph) and I need a lot of them to go with reasonably high amount of protein I get, to keep my weight up and also build muscle. Without whey protein and creatine I'd waste away on a 50/50 Thai/Western diet.
