Dan i know you can help here to(;, i have been dying to go to Bangkok for years. Been saving up for awhile to go there......, i recently started looking into flights. I thought it would be like 5,000 to go there. It is telling me i can fly there for 1735.98, so i am curious how much did it cost for you guys that went there?

i dont get to travel that often but if ever i do get a chance i would google travellers guide to ...... what ever city i am visiting just to learn important things that i may not be aware of.

I've been there about 5 times - a couple of times in Thailand and the rest heading on to other places in the region - Bangkok's a good gateway airport for the region.

I don't know where you're from (I'll presume somewhere in the US) but even $1700 sounds a bit dear - going from Europe, I've paid about $1000 a time.

- I used Skyscanner to price a 2 week trip in February and got fares of about $1000 from both LAX and NYC

But it depends where you're going from and what month you want to travel.

Ive never been but have a mate who goes 2/3 a year 2 get his freak on....Im sure its a lovely place but it aint 4 me...

i am in LA currently, that is where i got the deal. If it could find it cheaper that would be amazing!

oh google travel! didn't thin of that... google maps doesn't do airplanes sadly and thta is my main source.

That's a random search for 2 weeks in February, cheapest first. Best price (but on a Taiwanese airline with a crappy 11hr layover) is $847

Change the search to the dates you want and see what shows up. For example, you can go this month on a better-known carrier (Continental, United, ANA) with better connections for about $1,030. So shop around!

No problem - I've saved a fortune bypassing travel agents over the years & I don't mind helping others save a few bucks, especially these days.

BTW, a lot of those routes connect in Tokyo - If you want, you should be able to stop over there for a couple of days for a small surcharge.

I quickly checked ANA and it's about $100 dearer. Just an idea - but Tokyo's one of my favourite cities, so I'm biased.

Or use a travel agent, we often find things that skscanner can't. USD$866 including all taxes return from LAX with one short transit in each direction.
