This sounds worse than it is. He doesn't hurt them or anything.
He just takes a bit too much pleasure in coming up with ways of making them suffer when they're punished for breaking the rules. He actually likes it when they're miserable during the times when they're "paying the price." I first got a taste of this streak when we were dating. He and I were on the phone, and he began speaking to his little daughter, who was on punishment for some wrongdoing. She was laughing at something, and he told her (completely serious), "DON'T BE HAPPY."
And he likes to scare them. Thank God I'm here to hear his ideas before he springs them on the children, because sometimes he really wants to frighten the living shit out of them in a very malicious way and I have to gently bring the possible enusing psychological damage to his attention. Yes, issues. But I don't want you to think he, like, locks them in closets or pulls out their eyelashes or anything. | |
