You should also consider Curacao. It's gorgeous and has lots of resorts with spas so you could get work as a masseuse but it's not as populated/commercial as Aruba. thumbs up!

Panama is getting high as fuck because of all the expats. It's the #1 destination for retirees outside the US. I think Curacao is cheap because it's less populated, but I don't know. I do know that most of the employees were brought it from surrounding islands because they did not have a workforce to match the growth of resorts on the island. So, most of the employees were not locals.

Just talked with a guy who's brother is moving back to Holland from living at Curacao for 6 years.

It's not easy to find employment, a lot of criminality and drug trafficing. And very segragrated colourwise.

99% of my posts are ironic. Maybe this post sides with the other 1%.

A Thai island, maybe Koh Chang?

Very cheap cost of living, lovely people, lots of nice little beaches with white sand.

$800/month will get you a place like this 3 bedroom house, with 1600 sqm of land. Not too shabby. wink

Any number of Thai islands will do.

Ko Si Chang is nice and close to Pattaya, so you're always near civilization, but can still escape.

You can see Ko Si Chang here in the background.

What is the island that Aksel lives on? That's a place I'd check out.

Koh Phangan. It's party central in Hat Rin, but elsewhere I imagine it's still quieter and more picturesque (though I haven't been there since about 2002).

I'm not really sure to tell you the truth.

Fauxie might know. I was under the impression

he had returned to Holland, but I really don't know.
