umm, I really enjoy(ed) the tv series at its corniest it brought up some interesting issues. But here bringing back a played out threat that was destoyed in season 8 only to take up half the movie and so there's a lot of action is a bad sign what's with the terminator looking being confused and the priors were so scary in the series I was terrified of the ori, but here they kind of made me yawn, what happened to their omnious threat, and Daniel and Vala don't even look like they could hook up for real cry I'm not rating out of loyalty to the francise.

In the spirit of Thanksgiving,
I just watched these:

Plains, Trains and Automobiles - Watched many times before,
but has become a staple on my TV set every year at this time of the season.

1987

Alien Abduction: The McPherson Tape - Originally planned to be called "Guess Who's Coming To Dinner", until they found out that that title had already been taken. IMO, I think that this film is an allegory of what happened to the Native Americans after they had the Pilgrims (i.e. White man) over for a turkey dinner. The McPherson family is supposed to represent the Natives & the aliens, the white man.

But I'm not sure.

I may have just made that up for this post.

The Ice Storm - Oh sure, maybe your family isn't as effed up as the one in this movie (or maybe, your family is worse). But, after viewing The Ice Storm, you'll be left with the perfect feeling of indigestion, bitterness & hopeless depression that can only come after a family feast of dead bird, pumpkin pie & gelatinous cranberry sauce from a can.
In short, this drama kix ass.

I forgot this movie takes place around Thanksgiving. Maybe I'll watch it again this weekend.

Rachael Harris was outstanding in this, and should get more praise than she's received. The movie itself tries too hard to be funny in the first act but it keeps getting better, and the third act is the least predictable and most rewarding of the three (which is quite unusual in this age of disappointing endings). Not a total bullseye but definitely worth your time.
