The Fighter--very good movie all around, Marky Mark was his usual decent self, but Christian Bale was awesome. Reminded me a lot of Rocky, but with some notable differences, the most important being the fact that it was equally about the brother who never quite made it.

3/5 - tagged as a political film, didn't seem like it to me even though it does involve a major world topic, interesting, though I had a hard time keeping up with it in the beginning since it skipped around storylines, I would have liked to see more about the woman running the orphanage but since the movie isn't about her then that wouldn't make any sense.

Lars von Trier. Always good. Try Breaking the Waves. You'll cry. Lots.

SCREAM 4- 4 star out of 5. It was a lot of fun and just perfectly clever for that particular genre.

the build up to those very last few minutes of the film was seriously good. at first I was curious, then got anxious, and by the end of it I was damn near paralyzed. lol

It's what I like best about Lars's work, he sure leaves you with something to walk away with!

nod I was so fascinated with the movie and at the same time I really had to take a deep breath sometimes. Because as unrealistic and as unthinkable the whole idea of the movie actually is, the performance of the actors and their reactions to what's coming felt so realistic and understandable.

And what is the movie actually about? I think ultimately it is about the different views we have about life, captured in this one scene between the sisters, when Justine says that "life is only on earth" but who would miss it.

I have to see it again.

absolutely. it made total sense Kirsten got best actress for it at the Cannes festival, the scene where her sister drags her to take a bath, it's hard to believe that's acting, she looked perfectly ill it wasn't funny.

there's one scene close to the one you mentioned but I can't remember the exact quote, it was during the marriage ceremonies, something along the lines of "don't do it if you don't want to, no time to pretend all is good". even though it sounded like a very irresponsible thing to say at the time, but as the end draws near and things get real you can't help but put it into context and think damn that was right. I need to watch it again too because I'm sure I'm going to get it even more now that I at least know where things end.

"what's that book where they're all behind the wardrobe?"

From what I've read briefly, she's been there. I guess that might helps with such an intense performance. I imagine it's not easy to play someone with severe depression if you went through it yourself.

Children of Men. Watched it last night. Quite enjoyable. Filmed in that style that seems to be Lottery funded if you know what I mean. Julianne Moore is in it for a bit and she's always good. Not in it for mind you. A few thought provoking moments albeit rather obvious and in your face. Mrs Iloveannie stayed awake which is a good indicator of a film's quality.

Children of Men 7.5/10

The last memorable film I saw:

It hits you over the head with the conclusion (after it's become a bit obvious), but it's a good, slow boil.

Watched this on Sunday night while cuddling with my Boo. This is an Adam Sandler kinda house

It's a cute family movie and definitely better than "Grown Ups" which I believe came afterwards.

It has just enough action to keep grown-ups interested and I can recommend this to friends who have kids without having to give any parental warnings whew

The sister's reaction when her brother tells her what he found out makes the entire movie.

Produced by Good herself. Not so bad. I enjoyed watching the downward spiral of her character, it gave her a chance to use her acting range a bit (I'm used to seeing her as a cute girl in the ensemble cast of black rom-coms). The production quality was a bit off though, so it does have that cheap straight-to-video look, but I appreciate her first effort as a producer, particularly as she chose to do a cautionary tale.

9 out of 5 stars. This is the Citizen Cane of Hollywood remakes.

I saw the original, so I never saw the remake. Has anyone seen both to say whether the remake's worth seeing?

The remake is erier, the pacing is better, and the silly cat scene isn't in it.

The original was great, but the remake is a bit better.

Bridesmaids

When it was funny it was SO funny, and it was well acted with decent characters...too bad about the pacing. There was no reason for this to be a 2 hr movie. Shave off 30-40 min and I might bump my 2 star to 3 star out of 5. sigh

I hate it when I don't much like a movie and it has nothing to do with the acting or writing so much as editing. sigh

Caught this on TMN one night when I was home alone. I normally wouldn't give a movie like this a chance but I just couldn't take my eyes off it. Soooo good.

5 outta 5.

My son loved it. I thought it was pretty good for a kids movie.

3.5 outta 5

I love Keir to pieces so decided to check this little movie out. Not amazing, but I quite enjoyed it.

4 outta 5.

I had not seen this movie in at least a decade, probably closer to 15 years. It was amazing how differently I viewed it this time around. When I was young it was a silly movie with dirty sex scenes, but now...I completely understood this movie. I could relate to Elizabeth's fixation with a manipulative and abusive fucked up asshole and her eventual meltdown. Some scenes kinda hit a little too close to home that it creeped me out.

Anyway, 3 outta 5.
