While I agree that a lot of the comments are attention seeking and hurtful, there are some positive comments too. For example, make-up tutorials. It allows the viewer to ask questions about the products being used or about a technique. Being able to ask questions is also helpful when the channel is speaking of their own personal experiences with things such as surgery, medical conditions, depression, weight loss/gain, etc. It would be hard to personally message everyone that asks questions. I think the owner of the channel should use their delete button more often.
YouTube is a social network. It's no different than Facebook, Twitter, MySpace or even prince.org. You can complain as much as possible but assholes are going to open new accounts and start over. Shake it til ya make it

A couple of other people on You Tube said the same thing. RIP, mom. I will forever miss and love you.

When you post a vid, you have the option of enabling or disabling comments.
Let the owner decide, not YouTube.

I am another one that doesn't even try and read the comments. I just go from video to video. I am the same way with the radio, the less commentary the better. I have absolutely no appreciation for the art of talk radio. There came a time when the risk of remaining tight in the bud was more painful than the risk it took to blossom. Anais Nin.

"Everytime i hear this i think of being in the drive thru bcuz its sounds like they are saying ( Pull up Asshole) in the background" (what someone posted on the Sophie B. Hawkins song, "As I Lay Me Down to Sleep"). I literally have tears in my eyes from laughing so hard. This is why they shouldn't disable YouTube comments. Too funny!
