This just in: legendary Oakland Raiders owner and one of the original founders of the American Football League, Al Davis, has died at the age of 82.

sad sad pray rose dove typing

Al may have lost it during his final years, but there's no denying his place in NFL history. The man was an ICON, right up there with Halas, Lombardi, Landry and Walsh. No one did it like Al.

In other news, Mario Williams tore his pectoral muscle. He may be gone for the season.

The less said about the Giants performance, the better. Disgraceful.

The Eagles have disappointed me in ways I cannot describe this season. I have Calvin Johnson on my fantasy team so it looks like they'll be my playoff team to root for if they make it.

WTF was Andy Reid thinking making an offensive line coach defensive coordinator? That shit makes no sense.

The steelers actually looked like a NFL team today unlike last week.

Wow i didn't believe Max Starks would come in and give this whole

offensive line a boost at LT considering the guy only played 6 games last

season. Ben looked sharper because he had some time to throw to his

receivers and the running game finally surfaced because of better oline

play. OC Bruce Arians called a great game on offense today and the defense

responded today to talk that they were over the hill.

Yeah the o-line did their job. Maybe getting let go and getting a second chance lit a fire under Stark's ass to go out their and defend Ben.

Yeah it was said that he was fit and slimmer and in the best shape he's ever been.

It was nice to watch a game this season without seeing Ben run for his life every play.

They have the skill players. The oline just needed to protect better.

I saw this posted at another site:

LOS ANGELES - Football star Terrell Owens was rushed to a hospital last Thursday after a 911 call for a possible prescription pill overdose, TMZ reported Monday.

The unsigned free-agent, who's currently rehabbing from knee surgery, spoke to police at the unnamed Southern California hospital before his release, TMZ said.

Messages sent to Owens' publicists were not returned, and Owens' girlfriend declined to comment when reached by the Daily News.

The record-breaking wide receiver with five NFL teams under his belt, most recently the Cincinnati Bengals, was famously hospitalized in 2006 for what he called a bad reaction to painkillers.

A police report and media coverage indicated it was an intentional Vicodin overdose.

He later denied that doctors had to pump his stomach and said he was not depressed.

"The rumor of me taking 35 pills, I think, is absurd. I don't think I would be here if I had taken 35 pills," he said in 2006.

The 37-year-old veteran posted a Twitter link Saturday to a football training video purportedly made that day.

He tweeted earlier in the week that he planned to be back on an NFL team by next month.

According to the Korea Times newspaper, the loud-mouthed legend was in South Korea in September for a stem-cell treatment meant to speed the healing of his knee, which was injured when he tore an ACL in March.

I'm so pissed right now. mad pissed My Bears suck. For all the talk about the offensive line being really awful (and tonight they were god awful), it's the Bears defense which sucks nearly as bad. They gave up two really huge plays for touchdowns and couldn't get any pressure at all on Matthew Stafford. Meanwhile, Jay Cutler was running for his life most of the night, and it was a minor miracle that they managed to score 13 points. And on top of that, Lovie Smith can't coach his way out of a paper bag. They took too many timeouts early in the first half and challenged a spot on 4th down when it was obvious that they fell short. And at the end of the gamne, knowing that the Bears needed two scores to get back in the game, they got to the Detroit 25 yard line with about 45 seconds left in the game. Instead of rushing to get to the line to spike the ball and kick a field goal so they could set up an onside kick, they just took their time. doh! pout disbelief

Well, that's it. The Bears' season is already over. Barring a catastrophic collapse or a rash of major injuries to key players for the Packers and/or Lions (the Packers and Lions are now both 5-0; the Bears are 2-3), the Bears are not going to make the playoffs. Even if they somehow turn themselves around and win 9 or 10 games, the Bears are not going to have enough wins to get a wildcard berth.

Season's only five games old. Still too early to tell if Detroit(along with San Fran, Buffalo and Washington) are the real deal.

Y'all can say all you want about the Lions.

I can remember just a few short months ago... we couldn't get 1 win let alone 9 wins in a row. Lions have been undefeated since last season when they kicked the Packers azz last season.

As a resident in Metro Detroit... it sure feels good. Damn I wish I had tickets to see this first Monday night game since the 1990s.

The best record for the Lions since the 1950s.

So woot! for the Lions!!!!

...and yet some nutty Bears fans still question Jay Cutler's toughness. The poor kid's taking a beating on every play. WTF is he supposed to do? He's trying to run an offense he doesn't have the personnel for. That's not on him.

What was Lovie's strategy on the Bears' final drive? I agree with what Boomer Esiason said on the radio - why not go for the quick FG, then try an onside kick?

Eagles and Giants have the same problem - no discipline. Disciplined teams don't make bonehead plays.

Jets traded Derrick Mason to the Texans for a draft pick.

For all you 'Skins fans, that's the reason us Bears fans weren't sorry to see him leave Chicago. But this was a huge win for Philly; otherwise the season would most likely be over. Now they still have a shot at winning the division.

Meanwhile, the Packers stay undefeated by beating the hapless Rams, while the 49ers handed Detroit its first loss of the season. At the end of the game, it appeared that when Jim Harbaugh went to midfield to do the customary handshake with the opposing team's coach, he shoved him in the back, and the Lions coach took exception to that, nearly starting a fight in the middle of the field.

Also, the Indianapolis Colts lost their sixth straight game to Cinicinnati Bengals, keeping themselves in front of the "Suck for Luck" sweepstakes. (For those of you wondering what "Suck for Luck" means, it means that the team with the worst record at the end of the season will end up with the first pick of the NFL draft, which most certainly will be used to select Stanford quarterback Andrew Luck, who is a leading Heisman Trophy candidiate and whose skills have him being compared to Peyton Manning and Troy Aikman.)

You know, I like what I'm seeing from the Ballard kid. He plays hard and tough. And thanks to the Pats for beating the Cowboys. Their final drive was vintage Tom Brady. Giants are in sole possession of first place, and play Miami after the bye.

Mike Martz finally woke up and tweaked the Bears' offense. Run Forte, and provide better protection for Cutler.

Too bad about Jason Campbell. He'll be out for a long time with that broken collarbone. Just when the Raiders were starting to make noise.

This was not a good week for the D [detroit for the no-nots]. Tigers are out of the playoffs, now the Lions finally lost too. We had a nice a run for a minute, hopefully we can pick it up again. What was with that Scuffle at the end of the game though? lol

Ted Ginn Jr. was the difference in that game. Lions couldn't handle him.

Raiders are making a big push for Carson Palmer.

The Raiders are pretty desperate right now. Jason Campbell is out for at least six weeks, Kyle Boller is a journeyman backup quaterback, and Terrelle Pryor has had a total of one week of NFL practice since he was drafted thanks to Roger Goddell making him sit out the first five weeks of the season due to imposing what would have been a college suspension. They asked former Jacksonville Jaguars QB and current free agent David Garrard to sign a contract, but he said he was getting back surgery. They don't have anything to trade for Kyle Orton, and it appears Cincinnati won't trade away Carson Palmer to any team without huge compensation.
