The NFL 2011-2012 Season Kickoff Thread

Are you ready for some football? I know I am. woot! excited headbang Since the season is beginning in earnest this week, I thought this would be the appropriate place to post your comments, concerns, and predictions for this upcoming season. So far the Green Bay Packers look to be in their championship form, my Chicago Bears are looking okay (for the moment), and the Indianapolis Colts look to be floundering without Peyton Manning.

Wow@ Buffalo, Chicago and Baltimore

Watching the Eagles - Rams game... Eagles are lucky Stephen Jackson got hurt early.....

And what's up with Brian Billick?..he obviously doesn't like Mike Vick

Why do they always complement how "articulate" a black player is?...i never heard that word for a white player...

Do they mention Rothlisberger's drama when they're talking him to set the game up?

Okay that should get the thread rolling...lol

Oh yeah my Bucs Suck!!!!

Woo hoo for my Bears! woot! excited dancing jig highfive party clapping

But don't feel so bad about the Bucs losing today. Detroit is a much improved team, and if they can keep Matthew Stafford healthy, they could become this season's Kansas City Chiefs.

As for Indy, unless Peyton Manning has some miraculous healing abilities, this could be a long season. sad sigh

Megaton was a beast today..Detroit have improved alot...

Colts could be in the Luck sweepstakes early...lol

Someone has to tell me what the hell happend to the Steelers?!!

Isn't there some streak where the losing SB team loses the first game of the season?

Because these media tools just assume white players are smart and articulate. It shocks them to hear a brother put two sentences together.

Giants secondary made Rex Grossman look like Tom Brady. The injuries will kill their season.

Norv won but i get your drift. The chargers can win the AFC WEST every year with their

dynamic passing game but if they get bounced out in the first round by a wild card team

at home repeatedly it won't mean jack. Yes it's early with Cam but it looks like as this

guy gets more and more experience it looks like all the internet ass clowns who puts

him down and call him Scam Newton will have egg on their face.

Simply put the steelers were outplayed in every phase of the game. Ray Rice practically

put on a clinic in the first half. This was a playoff game and revenge game for the Ravens.

They were ready for this. I expect the Steelers to bounce back but multiple turnovers will

do you in every time.

Sorry, but why is this a Sticky? I don't think many people outside the US are interested. Is prince.org a site just for US citizens? (I don't say "Americans" because it's incorrect and high-handed.)

Because we have a lot of orgers here who are sports fans. I see threads here all the time that

are stickys that don't interest me. I just don't respond to them. Football is an institution here

in the United States just like the pride for our country is and if you were a football fan you

would have seen that throughout each stadium yesterday as we remembered all those lost in

the 9/11/01 fiasco. Sorry you're a lost non U.S citizen. wink

All my respect to football and to your national feelings, but that doesn't answer my question: is prince.org a site just for US citizens? I just can't understand that a sport that interests only (or mainly, if you want) in the US is considered a Sticky in a web page that, as far as I know, doesn't belong to "Americans".

Also, I didn't mean to hurt with my comment over the use of "Americans"; it just shows a prepotence that is precisely reflected in the NFL season being converted into a Sticky. There exists a world outside of the US, although some may not believe it.

Anyway, enjoy. Some of us don't need nationalism in our identities. wink

No this site isn't just for Americans, but since this is the General Discussion forum, people will discuss issues which are on their minds that aren't related to Prince, his associates or former associates, other musical artists, or deep political, social. and religious issues. (There are other forums on this site for those matters.) But because a lot of fans of Prince happen to be American, and since this site was launched here in America, a lot of topics which relate to what's happening here in America will get posted here. That doesn't mean we don't acknowledge other countries around the world - in fact, some of our most passionate Orgers on this forum are from Canada, Europe and Australia.

But as for the NFL sticky, American style football has a rather rabid following here in the USA. That doesn't mean there aren't any traditional football (soccer) fans on this site, but the soccer threads don't usually come up often in this forum unless the World Cup is going on. I'm sure there are some Orgers here who are rabid fans of Manchester United, Chelsea, Arsenal, FC Barcelona, AC Milan, Chivas Guadalajara, etc., but they don't discuss soccer here too often. But they are free to do so.

That's fine, I totally respect it. My only issue is with making a Sticky of a sport that isn't practised outside only one country (as far as I know), the US, however big and important it is. I would have understood it with the NBA, for example, as basketball is a very popular sport also outside the US and the NBA has a lot of followers in other continents.

There is Canadian Football which almost like American Football (A few different rules here and there). American football is also very popular through out the South Pacific

Tom Coughlin needs to wake the fuck up and read Kevin Gilbride the riot act. Jacobs only gets ONE touch in the second half - and doesn't get the ball on 4th & 1?????? And why is Eli still having communication issues with his WRs? Giants are a fucking mess right now.

After watching Brady and the Pats light it up last night, I don't think the Jets are winning that division.

Jacobs hasn't looked right to me for a couple of seasons. He used to mow people down a few season's ago. Now he has these lil' spurts here and there where he sort of looks like his old self. Meh.... I don't like him. I'm not sure if he has anything left.

Also, give the Jets a minute....I think they're gonna figure some thangs out.

It looks like New England is back to its form from last season, but they have issues with the Jets. Having said that, the Jets need to play better than they have been. They're decent, but they tend to get lost against certain opponents, and Mark Sanchez is still inconsistent.

Canada and Australia have their versions of football. There are simply a lot of Americans here. It makes more sense to make it a sticky to make it easy to find because it will last the season . . . .

We have no secondary, man. And no Osi or Tuck. Injuries and free agency killed this team. It's a must-win vs. the Rams, because Philly is next.

Do all US citizens here like it? 28 responses in a week doesn't seem many to me... (and that including my interventions and the responses to it).

Sorry, I haven't been convinced by the responses to my argument. Maybe this subject should be dealt with in the prince.org site Discussion Forum.
