Org story

When bored I would play this game with my brothers. Everybody got to say/write two sentences of the story. Than another has two sentences. Until we ended up with a great, funny, illogical story.

Let's see if we can pull it of at the org.

I'll start with the first two sentences:

It was dark and cloudy outside. As soon as I stepped outside, I knew it.

99% of my posts are ironic. Maybe this post sides with the other 1%.

The wind started blowing and the rain began to fall. I turned to go back inside, but didn’t.

I was stopped in my tracks by the sight of a hot man standing on the corner. I told him I'd blow him harder than the wind outside.

Instead, I turned around and decided it would probably be best if I stayed outside, but I wasn't sure. So, once again, I turned to go back inside, but I didn't.

“Oh, this is ridiculous,” I said to myself, as I stood there alternately facing the front door and the front yard trying to determine what I should do next. I dawned on me that I should make up my mind as to whether I wanted to go back inside and sit on the damned sofa or venture outside, though unfortunately I didn’t.

It was at this point that I felt bereft of any hope in determining how my day was going to end up, having succumbed to this lethargic sense of a reasoning and inaction. "That's, it!" I said to myself being overcome by a sense of urgency to take some action on whether I should be inside or outside, a sense of urgency that stirred strong emotions of action within me, emotions that, ufnortunately, I still did not act on.

I noticed at the very moment that I didn't turn the weather was taking a turn for the worse, which turned my decision about whether to turn to go back inside into a pressing decision of the utmost urgency. I decided that very second that I would, in fact, turn, not to go back inside, but to stay outside.

A couple of hours had passed by the time I realized that a real man would have already done something by way of going inside or venturing forth. A real man, with real decisions, wiling to deal with real consequences, of which I obviously wasn't because I stood there still doing neither.

Doing neither seemed like such a bold commitment as I turned to stand there though, so cavalier in its decisiveness, perhaps brought on by the changing of the weather, which had over the last couple of hours somewhat darkened and possibly, though I wasn't sure, dropped a couple of degrees in temperature, that I decided I couldn't possibly throw all my eggs in the basket of not doing either. I turned around to where I'd already been facing and decided I would stop turning it over in my head until a third option made itself apparent.

At this point, I had turned around so many times in directions of which I wasn't going, that whatever direction I actually wanted to go was always at least two turns counter clock-wise from the direction I intended to face, slightly resembling a bedridden person trying to do the electric slide, if you will. It was at this point that I knew I needed to make up my mind before the first harvest on whether to go back inside or venture forth, but by this time I didn't know what direction was north or south or if I was even facing the right house, so naturally I hesitated and did nothing.

Suddenly, over the course about a quarter of an hour give or take, this doing nothing felt tantamount to taking positive action, and was so empowering that for a moment, possibly 12 or 13 minutes in length, I felt almost turned on. I say 'almost' because after an hour's reflection I instantly realized this was in fact not the case at all.

I thought of that fable, Rhyme of the Ancient Mariner, in which the protagonist ventured through the debts of the ocean to discover the beauty in life, and that his spiritual sublimation would not have been possible if he had not been tempest tossed through the bowels of hell and lived to appreciate his life as such. I knew that I must venture forth and discover myself so I turned around to head out before a white hot lightening flash epiphany struck me upside my head reminding me that I hate boats, couldn't swin, and regularly got seasick--ergo, I stayed put.

That really started to creep me out, and I felt that I had to get away from him, so I turned to go back inside. But, then I realize what's to stop him from following me inside, so I didn't.

After making a snap decision to mull it over, I vowed to search for inspiration in the words of the man who'd just walked up to me an hour ago, who'd told me it was clear I was lost. He'd said something else that I hadn't quite been able to catch that now had me intrigued, to the point where I thought about turning around to see where he'd gone, a curious thought given what followed, which was that I didn't and stayed where I was.
