relationship age gaps...whats too much ? this is an interesting question i think....i personally think it depends on how mature the younger partner is.....i think that an age gap of 20 years CAN work...but only if the young partner is around 30 years of age or older...i dont think it can work if the young one is in their teens and the older partner is in their late 30s....i think there is too much of a difference at this age... . i once had two dates in a week with a 19 year old girl who asked me out when i was 35 and..despite my reservations about it...i gave it a chance...but..other than the the fact she was attractive...there was next to no common ground between us so i ended it after the second date.... . so there was a 16 year age gap and it was too much for me...so have any of you had experience of a big age gap in a relationship ...short or long ?... I don't really care about age, I've always gotten along better with older guys, and the boys at school were just EW, not my thing at all. Plus it's funner being with someone that has their own place, car, money. Makes it easier to hang out Watch me talk about Prince - http://www.youtube.com/us...ature=mhee

I've never dated older, always younger but I swore that I would never, ever date someone that was in their 20s again....especially since I am now 37. I think people in their 20s should live it up with their peers, keep things fun and light and have as many experiences as they can. Older people usually have already gotten that out of their system and are on a completely different page in life. I think age differences later in life aren't that much of a big deal.
But I'm seeing someone that is 26, so I'm just a hypocrite.

hmmm...well thats only 11 years...i think thats ok...there is a big difference between someone who is 19 and someone who is 26..27...a lot of growing up happens between those ages....i think once people are over 30...there isnt that much of a difference... . and you look young for 37 as well justerin so that helps to attract younger partners...but ...for a proper relationship...what goes on in their heads is more important than how they look naked in bed (unless its a short fling..which is what i had)...

I am 21 years younger than my boyfriend... we've been together for 7 years, since I was 24... so I'd definitely say that it can work

Finding common ground is harder to do once the age gap gets bigger(other than phsyically). Its not impossible, but don't get your hopes up either. At this point in history, we have a choice to make

I had always dated men older than I ~ I think having 3 older brothers had a bit to do with it
boys/men MY age were always so immature
Married to a man that is older than I am too ~ 26+ yrs later and life is still grand

For the first time in my life, I was with someone just 2 years shy of being half my age, literally.
It's not really something I'm comfortable with. There is ABSOLUTELY NOTHING in common for you to relate to.
The pysical beauty of youth is intoxicating, but just not....that interesting.
I wish so many people past their 30s weren't so jaded and cynical though.
It's depressing thinking of all the people who seem to get crothety in their old age.

If people like each other and they are adults, then I don't much care.
Two 30 year olds can be in a very unhealthy relationship, just as unhealthy as 18-50 year olds in a relationship, so it's a case by case thing IMO. My Legacy

If they're so old that by the time your child reached middle school they would be ready for sopcial security and a live in nurse - the age gap might be too much
If they're so young you have to keep your relationship on the DL lest you get thrown in jail - the age gap might be too much
If the two of you go out to dinner and the waitress says "and what will your dad/mom be having?" - the age gap might be too much
If one of you is tired after 2 minutes of sex - the age gap might be too much
If you live in fear of being visited by Chris Hansen - the age gap might be too much
If you danced at club 54 and they saw the movie 54 - the age gap might be too much
If they think DMX is a motor oil and you think ACDC is a battery - the age gap might be too much

Age gaps are relevant, but the communication gap is the deadliest one to any relationship. Good night, sweet Prince | 7 June 1958 - 21 April 2016

yeah I see nothing wrong with thinking young people are beautiful and attractive. They are perfect and lovely. We like flowers in bloom and ripe fruit, why should it be different with people?

What's too much of an age gap? Adult and Child... anything else I'm fine with.. I agree with the OP's comment about maturity.. Someone's age says nothing about their maturity, intelligence, etc... so I don't think there's any age gap that makes a relationship off limits... unless it's adult and child.
My grandparents were 22 years apart, and they were together 30 some years, 'til death. Of course, this was back in the 50s or 60s.

Half you age +7 is the rule

So Hugh Hefner is 117.
Half of 117 is 58.5
58.5 + 7 = 65.5
Hefner should be dating Jane Fonda. They do have a lot in common.

I don't think age matters much for DATING.
I generally only date men older then me.
When I was 13 I dated a guy that was 37 for a while (he had no idea I was 13). "Aren't you even curious? Don't you want to see the dragon behind the door?"
