I think Prince taking the curse word out of his lyrics was the best thing he did.. That said, I tend to only use such language in the company of other men... I watch my language when talking to a woman or a kid. Except my wife of course, she doesn't count. I have a problem with parents tolerating their children using bad language. I have a problem with parents using bad language in front of their children.
That being said, I have a serious swearing problem. I don't swear compulsively outloud, but I have a FILTHY keyboard. I don't know why, but it's so easy for the word "fucking" to slip into things that I write...it has a nice flow to it. In terms of music censorship, I think artists should be free to use any kind of language they want. I grew up listening to Prince and NWA and it didn't warp me...too much, anyway. | |

As these formerly taboo words are used more frequently, they loose their shock value, which is where much of their impact came from. Once that happens, they are just words like any others.
