On Saturday we went to the annual Pow Wow at the Shinnecock reservation in Southampton.

It was a beautiful day and fun was had by all.

I really, really miss my Canon Poweshot but I managed to take some great shots with a borrowed camera. So as I do every year, I'd like to share some images with you all.

I brought drinks& water with me to limit the amount of cash I'd spend.

A (large) cup of lemonade was $5.00...that's almost as bad as Yankee Stadium!

Yeah...it was hot as HELL at midday and I was fiending for some of that lemonade...but $5? Damn. I'll just have some of my 99-cent store-bought iced tea, thank you.

Yeah...about the lady in the scooter...

...at one point we're walking through the tent area looking at stuff...we come by the lady who is using a voice box to talk b/c she has a tracheotomy...SO OF COURSE, my loud-ass kids are like; "LOOK dad! That lady's talking like a ROBOT!"

Yeah, there is a resemblance isn't there? It's the Puerto Rican blood.

Yeah...I'm sure it's an adjustment to suddenly be going to all these familiar places with either mom or dad but not both...but they appear to be handling it well.

Yesterday my little one called me to ask if I was going to go buy him a notebook he was missing for school, and then asked if he could come along. I thought THAT was weird, so I said 'yes' and when I picked him up he was unusually quiet. But we had a good day out, and by the end of the day he was smiling and being his usual wise-ass self.

awesome pics! we used to have a pow wow here every year but I don't think they do it anymore...and it wasn't tribe specific...just native american I guess
