True. and many thanx for bringing me back to that weekend by means of your thread.

So, just for keeping the peace here, what about both of us going to NSJF Rotterdam & Curacao?

Sounds like a good idea, huh?!

highfive Sounds like a plan! I'm definitely going back next year for the festival and may even switch my 40th bday party from Vegas to Curacao. The people and the resort were beautiful! love

thumbs up! thats what friends always tell me that curacao is beautiful. never went myself though.

Sorry if you explained this, but what does it mean to be "Ray Charles'd?"

Inquiring minds want to know

Word. The internet doesn't even know eek

lol It's something Ray Charles would do to judge if a woman was attractive or not. He would take their hand during a handshake and feel up and down their wrist and the upper part of the arm.

In the movie Ray, they showed him doing this to several women and then he felt a heavy set woman's wrist and got all frowny faced lol

So after the awesome show experience my girl and I are just shaking our heads in utter disbelief at what went down. It was a completely amazing experience that capped off an amazing weekend of amazing music and even more amazing new friends. There's absolutely NO way this night could get ANY better, right? WRONG mon frere. sigh

So after the show, our pal tells us he put us on the list for Stevie's after-party. By this time it's 2 am and we left the hotel at 5 pm, so our wagon is draggin fa sho. But our friend BEGS us to come thru to what I'm thinking is a party for a bunch of folks at some hotel.

I shoulda known that when no one we asked had ever heard of the spot, this wasn't going to be your typical afterparty. After we finally found a cab driver who'd heard of this place, we arrived at an ultra-exclusive boutique hotel of private villas directly on the beach around 3 am. Turns out this is where Stevie stayed. The only bad thing is that it was dark so I couldn't see all of the splendor but what I could see was gorgeous. love

[img:$uid]http://i807.photobucket.com/albums/yy360/cynda319/DSCN0720.jpg[/img:$uid]

There was an open bar woot! and delicious food including the best shrimp and lamb chops I've ever come across foodnow

We were chatting, drinking and taking pics with all of the band members. Here's my girl with one Stevie's back up singers.

[img:$uid]http://i807.photobucket.com/albums/yy360/cynda319/DSCN0724.jpg[/img:$uid]

And then after awhile they brought Stevie out to one of the covered palapas to chill, which he did until about 6 am. My friend got up the nerve to ask his asst if we could get a pic. I normally frown on this but other people were taking pics so we figured it would be okay. My friend took hers then it was my turn. I introduced myself, he put his arm around me, we took the pic, I thanked him and as I was walking away Stevie TOTALLY Ray Charles'd me. faint

This is my friend with Stevie and no I'm not posting my pic. lol

Here are some other performances dancing jig

Juan Luis Guerra: I was standing directly in front of the stage against the railing for this one woot!

Here's EWF, I was standing backstage during this one love

Here's Philip on stage with Stevie. It sounded kinda bad cuz he chose a song that Philip doesn't do lead on and they had trouble finding the right key.

Here's Stevie bringing Dionne out. She was sitting next to me and was genuinely surprised when he called her out and didn't really wanna go. lol

And here's the amazing Sharon Jones and the Dap Kings boogie

Terence Blanchard created most of my favorite film scores but I didn't realize how extensive the man's resume is. eek

He's also featured in Spike's When the Levees Broke returning to his mother's house after Katrina to survey the damage. In Curacao he told me a hilarious story of his mom cussing him out for letting her choose a countertop she now hates. According to Terence Spike left out quite a bit of stuff cuz his mom was clowning him about redecorating and the crew was laughing too hard. lol

Terence also performed trumpet for the Denzel Washington character in Mo' Better Blues and for the Val Kilmer character in The Salton Sea. As well as the piano for the Samuel L. Jackson character in "The Caveman's Valentine." I still can't believe I got to listen to music with this dude. Surprisingly, T said that metal is currently his fave genre and really digs the band Disturbed. Didn't see that coming. omg
