Instant gratification

Are you someone who needs instant gratification? In what circumstances? Are you one to regrest your impulses? Or are you a person who generally enjoys delayed gratification?

When I'm hungry mainly. I would probably cook for myself more if I were more patient and it weren't so easy and quick to just jam a bunch of guilty pleasure tacos down my face.

Otherwise I'm pretty good at waiting on things.

Always.

I have had many regretful experiences because of it, but it was usually worth it before the consequences came into play.

I enjoy the time looking forwards to something even more than the thing itself sometimes, waiting too long can end up with a big let down hammer GIMME NOW!!!!

I'm a very tolerant, but also very impatient person. And for someone to feel my tolerance, they must have "passed" through this "worthiness-barrier" (for example, I don't tolerate stupidity), which is quite difficult to do in my case. I am very demanding; however, I only demand things I can guarantee myself.

I swing both ways.

I like to eat food when I'm feeling down and I still get huge kicks out of music. Those things are always available for me and I can't think of too many occasions of resorting to either one providing at least momentary comfort.

I also tend to postpone the realization of my goals constantly. I'm always thinking I cannot enter a relationship when I'm involved in a "project" of some sort, because it would just distract me too much. Those "projects" are usually academic work or related to music in some way.

I have ZERO patience. I want what I want when I want it......

Unfortunately life doesn't work that way depending on what I want pout

I am almost always an instant gratification type of person unless it comes to revenge. I can let a revenge plan simmer for months...even years.

I really need Jesus.

I'm a deeply impulsive person, I act without thinking about the consequences. Obviously such a behaviour brings his bunch of regrets afterwards but having regrets never allowed anyone to go back in time. What's done is done.

Is there any place of refuge one can flee from this insanity

I'm incredibly impatient nowadays. When I was a child I didn't have much and always had to wait for christmas or birthdays to get something I wanted and usually the stuff I got was second-hand.

When I started earning my own money I realised that if I worked hard, I could buy what I wanted..... and that applied to non-money things also biggrin

Anyway, I suppose over the years I've turned into a spoiled brat. If there's something I want, I get it. I miss having to wait for stuff sometimes....

I do try to make my kids wait for stuff though. If they want to buy something, they have to save for it. They only get (£2 a week) pocket money if they've earned it.

I have thought about this off and on for several days now

I have a pretty good balance

I am far more patient the older I get in many areas and not so much in a small handful of areas

I am finding that "instant" gratification is often a let down for me ~ I'll take the slower steady route that leads me to a more fulfilling experience in most things

Humans are designed for instant gratification.

I heard an interview about this and this guy who wrote a book on the subject was saying if you were hungry and someone offered you a sandwich now, or two a month from now, you would take the one now.

He was suggesting that human brains run on an outdated OS, because we still crave things in these life & death terms even when it's about buying a new TV

but to answer the question, I can't even read a post if it is as long as the one I just wrote.

I want three words, max, and one of them had better be sexual.

i prefer instant gratification, but i've been learning a lot about delayed gratification this year.... it really depends on what the project is as to whether i can wait or not.
