You'd be cool if they smoke crack, right?

Smoking's become just another stimulus for some people to create a massive, dramatic over-reaction.

You, Sir, are rather pathetic. *I'm blowing smoke in yer face*

That's the problem... everyone has the right to clean air. So if you're enjoyment makes me and my kids choke in our own home and we can't breathe because of it then it should be illegal.

I don't know why people are bringing sugar and fat consumption into this. What's this constant attack on fat people? Seriously? When was the last time someone drinking beer affected you in your living room? Or a person eating donuts fucked with YOUR health in a direct way? I don't get these bullshit comparisons. I have asthma because of my mother's smoking when I was a kid.... she drank too, but that never did a thing to me. Her smoking sure did though, and the costs of medicines and steroids in order to control asthma are expensive!! Oh did I mention asthma is a chronic condition?

Smoke seeps through stuff. So that is the equivalent of someone owning a skunk and the skunk stunk up an entire building. You smelled skunk all day, it got in your clothes and it made you short of breath all the time... imagine trying to sleep, eat, or just watch TV because your neighbor wants to keep a cute skinky skunk for his enjoyment. OK>>> now you get what non smokers have to deal with.

Sure, smoke in YOUR house/apartment.... but if that stink enters my life in any way, we are gonna have problems. I don't want your stink in my home, just like you wouldn't want the smell of my shit in yours.

We brought it up because he said cigs kill people and should be banned, well, so does the things we mentioned... Didnt have anything to do with people being fat... Just some other things that "can" kill a person....

I get what your saying about "second hand" things, but when I brought it up thats not what was being talked about... It was a personal banning of things that can kill you yourself... I think.. lol

[Edited 9/4/11 17:05pm]

I have a 9 year old daughter. If I eat like a pig and balloon up to 500 pounds that will not affect her health. She has to actually partake in the scoffing down of junk food. Smoking is different. If I smoke in the house and she lives in the house she will have a greater risk of getting cancer. I am not only ruining my lungs but hers as well. Eating badly and alcoholism do not affect the child's health in the moment. They may grow up to have food or alcohol issues but their liver is not being ruined while you are drinking. They are not developing type 2 diabetes because their Parents are eating way too much junk.

This is the problem with smoking. Unless you have your own home you affect your neighbors and your neighbors affect you. It is like a barking dog or loud music. If that's something you want in your life then live far enough away from other people so they don't have to live your lifestyle with you. Otherwise get use to their evil eyes and bitching.

What Genesia said was spot on. Smoke goes into your neighbors appartment. God, if smokers don't like to smell of smoke, is it so strange that non-smokers don't want to? That shit about FauxReals neighbor smoking in the f'n laundry room is enough to make me crazy. That is the kind of " I am a smoker and I love cigarettes and fuck you non-smoker just deal with it" attitude that makes me crazy.

It stinks it stinks it stinks!!!!!! My closet stank of pot and cigarettes because my downstairs neighbors smoked both a lot. Now I am living in a house with a non-smoker, THANK GOD!!!!

biggrin Oh my. Unless you're running a meth lab in your home.... then I beg to differ. lol Cleaning products aren't THAT bad unless they are industrial strength.

But with all those examples you listed if someone gets sick, they can sue. I know no smoker wants to be made liable for a neighbor claiming threats to their well being and health because of some cigarette smoke.

Parents now get in trouble by doctors if their kids stay sick around smokers in the home. Cigarettes do have very harmful effects... but usually its the smoker that tends to be immune to its immediate effects. I know smokers who get everyone around them sick but they stay perfectly fine.

Well, you probably have radon-222 in your home, which is a colorless, tasteless, and odorless gas that accumulates in all basements and attics of homes due to the way that they are built and ventilated. It is the second most frequent 'cause' of lung cancer. This has nothing to do with meth labs lol. Maybe you should do some research, because there are a lot of things in your home that you don't even know exist but are detrimental to your health.

You can't sue if you get sick from these things. Well, yes technically you can but it doesn't make any sense to do so, and you won't get anywhere by doing that because that is the price of technology and the world we live in. A lot of things that we use frequently are detrimental to your health and cause pollution not only in your home but very much in the world in general. The world wasn't made with all these cities and technologies intact lol. These things are not actually natural and of course they 'affect' our health. That's the way these things work. Just like I said before, if you want truly clean air you would have to move to the rainforest or somewhere far away from all of this because everything around us may 'affect' our health and you can't really escape it. Cigarettes is just one out of the many things.

The reason that smokers are not as likely to get sick is because they are not worried. Negative and worrying thoughts are 100012893028X more detrimental to your health than cigarettes. It's mind over matter, what goes on in your mind affects your body and your wellbeing in every single way. You change your deep subconscious beliefs so that you are not affected by cigarettes but since so many people are trained to believe in the 'negative' and 'deadly' effects of smoking, then they are going to suffer from those beliefs. You have way more control over your reality than you realize but sadly too little people know this. You can get rid of your asthma but we are trained by society to believe we don't have control over these things.

Radon is NOT in my building nor are other natural gases. I don't need to worry about that. No research needed, you see this is what carbon monoxide and smoke detectors are for, and like I said before... if I get sick from some shit in my building, I will sue my landlord. Like many tenants have done before in similar situations regarding gases caused by either natural or chemical sources.... successfully. wink

People don't get sick from their own cigarette smoke because their body developes a tolerance and addiction to it. Worry has nothing to do with that.

My asthma is controlled without steriods, but if any cigarette smoke is near me I get sick... but if you have the cure for asthma please share it oh wise one since you know something I don't. lol

People still have a right to their own well being, this is why noise ordinances and other rules are initiated by landlords to make sure tenants have quality of life while renting in an apartment. Otherwise slumlords would be able to rent to people all the time without threat of litigation.

Sorry but I am talking about people who are smoking daily and often and are going to be living in the apartment not just visiting. It all adds up. Sure, come to my place and have a cigarette after you eat, fine. That is totally different from living next to a chain smoker day in and day out.

Hmm.. well let's see.. through visualization, meditation, and strong faith alone I have completely aligned my spine, got rid of some scars, a rash I had for months, greatly increased stamina and vitality, greatly increased physical health/strength, cured my alopecia (&by doing so, I had to affect my immune system since alopecia is basically a defect in your immune system which makes your hair follicles fall out), made my hair strong and healthy and free from split ends completely (haven't gotten a haircut in four years!), made my nose smaller, slighty changed my face structure, got rid of the hair on my legs biggrin.

Right now I am currently working on my eye color. I have brown eyes, and I want them a kind of mix of some dark black and purple and brown (I met this gorgeous girl who had real purple eyes and they were positively stunning love). The parts of my eyes where I visualized the purple currently have this gorgeous brownish emerald green and they are so pretty. Two people noticed so far smile.

I've heard cases of people who have done things from prevent aging to curing their own cancer to growing their breasts lol. Literally, anything is possible. In the deep parts of our brain EVERYTHING in our body is controlled, even our hearts and immune system, etc. Our cells too. Everything is controlled in the mind center. So if you change your mind you can change your body, I've done it. We aren't told these things because if people truly knew this stuff doctors and pharmecuticals would be out of business.

So yes, you can absolutely get rid of your asthma. Steroids aint got shit on the powers of your mind lol. Neither does cigarettes.

If you want to read more on this Bruce Lipton has some interesting reads.

That and ant/roach spray does it... INSTANT trigger.

There is more shit in cigarettes than just tobacco. Tobacco is NOT what triggers it... it may be the tar, or other poisons in it that does that.

I think the real key here is if the tenants signed an lease saying that they would not smoke. If there wasn't a no-smoking clause in their agreement there isn't anything you can do about it. However if there was, well that is a different story.

Non smokers and exsmokers like myself just need to be aware of that when we rent. We have to ask upfront if smoking is allowed on the premises and where. Since smoking ruins the apartment and the landlord needs to foot the bill for that, plenty of landlords are out there who only want nonsmokers. We just have to look for them.

Complaining? lol No.. like I said before in almost every post .. I control my asthma attacks. I'm OK.

But um... why do you keep an addiction like cigarettes if you possess so much mind control?

Why even smoke? Kinda hypocrytical statements about needing meds and all.

You could control your adrenaline and endorphines with our mind center right? Why use any substance to trigger any high?

Don't worry about me, I don't need substances to get me a buzz to tolerate my life. I'm good. cloud9

Who says I'm addicted? I enjoy cigarettes. I enjoy smoking. But I absolutely don't need them to survive. Just this Ramadan I quite for a whole month, cold turkey, absolutely no problem and it wasn't any trouble for me at all. I usually will have one or two cigarettes in a day, I even skip days sometimes. Yes, cigarettes make me feel good. I enjoy having a smoke. But I don't feel like I need them and I am by no means dependent on them. Argeela is also smoked regularly in my household.

The reason that so many people are negatively affected by cigarettes is because they become dependent on them (any many other things, too, from TV or internet to food to alcohol and cigarettes to hard drugs and everything in between). They become dependent on them as a result of some inner conflict that they have and it of course affects them negatively. As a result, they become dependent on something that temporarily helps them feel better and because they rely on that thing as a result of their inner conflict which makes it so that they are negatively affected by that addiction, whatever it is, including cigarettes. We can get rid of inner conflict and there doesn't need to be those problems. But just because I smoke doesn't mean I'm addicted. Just because I can use my mind to control these things, doesn't mean I can't enjoy things. Why watch TV, why go on the computer, why drive if I could get into a car accident, why do any of the things I do if there is a risk to every single one of them? Why not just stay in my home and meditate all day? falloff Because I like to enjoy my life and I like to make the most of a lot of things and that doesn't mean that cigarettes can't be one of them.

I'm Egyptian lol. Of course I smoke! It's a culture thing, and I enjoy it.

Btw, anyone can posses a lot of 'mind control' (or what is really like a laser focus). It's a natural ability that we all have within us.

Painted is dead on here... Certain smells trigger my allergies which in turn sometimes trigger my asthma..

I used to have asthma pretty bad as a child, had to be on meds and inhalers but I have "mostly" grown out of it... But every once in a while, I get an attack usually triggered by a smell... And it isnt the "smell" per se but the chemicals that are IN that smell that trigger the attack

Well something else that's ironic in all of this is that the upstairs neighbor (the one I actually talked to) said that she has breast cancer and she smokes anyway. Okay, so she's terminally ill and doesn't give a crap about her health because she still smokes anyway. Perhaps this could be good for her to stop smoking and perhaps help her get better! The neighbor across the hall smokes regardless and since she's a bit wacky, I avoid her anyway.

Another twist to this---just recently, the landlord informed me that my neighbor upstair's sister is moving into the unit downstairs (it's only three levels and 6 units in this building). She is going to be using Section 8 vouchers, even though the remaining units are regular rentals. The landlord has previously asked me to be his "eyes and ears" at the building, so I routinely handle small stuff around here. Does anyone know if smoking is prohibited in section 8 rentals? If so, I'm going to make that clear to the landlord, so that he is afraid of losing that rental property voucher. Hopefully then he can put the pressure on the wacky neighbor across the hall to stop smoking and I can also inform the sister downstairs that smoking would jeopardize her rental.

For all of you saying that I'm "whining" for no reason, you ever heard or second-hand smoke or do you still think the world is flat?

Trolls be gone!

Fair enough, but if you bothered to pay attention to my posts... you would see that I did NOT complain about my beighbors. My asthma is under control and I manage just fine.

I don't appreciate people saying shit in in my head though. My diease is very real and smoking is a real problem and many are addicted. You may not be in the USA and buy the same types of brands people do here. Different companies, different ingredients.

Its good you have a handle on all your issues though... good for you young jedi. thumbs up!

Hmm.. well let's see.. through visualization, meditation, and strong faith alone I have completely aligned my spine, got rid of some scars, a rash I had for months, greatly increased stamina and vitality, greatly increased physical health/strength, cured my alopecia (&by doing so, I had to affect my immune system since alopecia is basically a defect in your immune system which makes your hair follicles fall out), made my hair strong and healthy and free from split ends completely (haven't gotten a haircut in four years!), made my nose smaller, slighty changed my face structure, got rid of the hair on my legs biggrin.

And you are saying.... you did all of this... with your will power... neutral

Honey if that were really possible plastic surgeons would be out of business lol

Exactly. A lot of people would be out of business, in fact.

&No, not willpower. I visualized, meditated, and had strong trust that it would happen. And it did.

I'm a big believer in faith, but somehow I don't think I can believe my eyes into turning from brown to blue!

Of course, she's going to say the "I don't think" part is the problem.
