'TARDS who can't get used to letterbox

.
Went to Cockbuster the other day & rented Unfaithful, which is really good IMO, but the DVD was ONLY available in standard format whofarted

Is this b/c the audience for this film is "older" & can't get used to seeing things in letterbox? For fucks sake, some TV series' are shown in widescreen now. There's widescreen TV's & computer monitors all over creation - who in the HELL wants to rent a DVD that doesn't at least give you a choice between standard & wide??? disbelief I mean, Standard Only for a spankin' new film THAT good??? It's a crime, and I wanna know WHO FARTED!!! evil

Widescreen is the ONLY way to go...

All that one needs to do is look at DVDs that have both widescreen and full-screen editions on the disc and look at the picture for each of them. You will almost immediately notice how much you are missing when you watch the butchered version.

What gets me most is when people talk about having a great sound system and then they buy pan-and-scan or full-screen versions of movies. If you want a real cinema experience you must watch the movie in the original cinematic aspect ratio, or as close as possible.

Oh so true!!!

I avoid all movies that are not widescreen, except when I went out and purchased Grease blackeye I grabbed it, assumed it was...OPENED it at home, put it on the screen and neutral

So I now own a god-forsaken full-screen version of Grease.

I will be the first to tell you then! It's mushy, corny, and has a few spots that made my skin crawl, lol. I had not seen it in probably 20+ years...it really didn't give me the same feel it did when I was a teen.

It does make me look like my DVD collection is bigger! lol

"Flippers" really suck!!! The studios are re-releasing some of the old "flippers" in dual-layer editions.

"Amadeus" used to be a "flipper" but they recently re-released it in a great, single-sided version. There is hope!!!

I am 1000% in agreement with you about having to flip the fucking disc over... that is terrible. There are actually some DVD players that will play both sides of a disc so that you don't have to flip the disc.

My laserdisc player is a both-side player as well, as I could not tolerate having to get up in the middle of a movie to flip the disc. Then you had CAV discs where only 30 minutes would fit on a side... that REALLY sucked.

There have been a great number of movies that I loved as a kid and saw after many years and found that I hated them... it kinda destroys you in a way... one more dream destroyed.

Here is one that REALLY got me... "Benji."

I really loved that movie as a kid... I mean LOVED it!!! I bought the DVD for my son... he loves it but I found that it is a really shitty movie... boring and tedious.

sad

I definitely looked at Ginger and Mary Ann more than I probably should have as a kid... what I always wondered was why the Skipper and Gilligan bunked together, why the Professor never got anything going with Mary Ann who obviously wanted him, why Ginger tried so hard to be a slut but failed miserably and how all those random people that dropped in managed to get to that tiny, uncharted island.
