I always end up smashing my toes. I'm one of those people that can walk for hours and hours and that has its consequences. The nails on two of my toes are so damaged that I have an additional layer of nail growing on them (-> two fingernails growing on one toe, on two of my toes). I just sort of break the surface of the ones on the top with clippers to make it look like I'm not a freak of nature.
