Why does everyone think the org is "unfriendly"?

The org is the friendliest message board I've been to.

Everyone here always says the orgers are assholes and prepare yourself ... whofarted

The org is like a cake walk compared to other Boards

The fights arent as hateful and dirty as the others.

I don't get me wrong it's nuttjob city in here but everyones decent for the most part.

Honestly, the only thing I don't like about the org is the constant sarcasm [especially from those who aren't even good at it]. Other than that, I heart the org! cool

It might be cliquish, but not unfriendly at all. I know other forums and internet communities worse than that...

I don't mind sarcasm, it's just sometimes overdone. It's like a popularity contest to see who can get the most laughs. The "constant" aspect just sometimes....you know....wears out. lol

It's cliquish alright but im guessing some know each other outside the org, thats why its so cliquie-y.

Some of these people have been posting on here for like 10 years +, its gonna be some bonding..no doubt

Yeah i could see how it could be annoying, especially for new orgers.

You can't blame them. Everyone wants to be the life of the party in GD. lol

It's crazy becuase some people PM&M dont know GD exsist. Someone can spend 3 years just posting in Pm&m and come to GD and be completely unknown. lol Isnt that wild?

I was reading another forum the other day- I don't even remember about what- and the people were so nasty! eek

The name-calling and insults were ridiculous! I thought, "Don't they have Mods?"

Also, I belong to a Camaro forum. I stopped going there because it was so intense. People would put down others' cars, and it was a pissing contest for "Camaro experts". It was like PM&M 10x worse...

I've been a member of forums where people were truly assholes. I've enjoyed my time in GD. I'm not a very active member but I try to read a lot. I've met some great people on another music forum that I became friends with in real life. This was years ago and we're still friends today. There's a lot of things I don't understand here like inside jokes but hey that's ok! They are friends and it' fun to see people participate in a fun way with one another! biggrin

yeahthat Sarcasm is very difficult to relay through written form, and whatever humor was intended gets easily lost in the translation. Plus, I've always felt that sarcasm is just another expression of hostility. I have a low tolerance for both sarcasm and bullshit.

Some folks are just bitter, and best avoided in person and on the net.

The thing is, if you are a new person and stumble upon some of the threads- in just about every forum- you could be scared away.

People who have been attacking each other for years, and people who can't let go of things go at it constantly... making newbies think everyone is unfriendly. sad

Before I joined this place a couple of people who have been on here said you guys were "douchebags" and "most of you turn your back on anyone they aren't familiar with", so I didn't really want to join haha, but I did eventually, and people on here don't seem bad at all!

See that's the thing I reeeeaaaaaaaaaaaallly can't get.

How hard is it to avoid someone you don't like?...I'll answer....It not that hard at all. It's cyberspace. The childishness displayed by grown ass folk on here is really annoying.

Who knows why they do what they do..but really more important things should be happening in one's RL to not be so invested in being catty on a freaking message board.

Honestly sometimes this place can really be fun and serve as a release from one's RL stress...at other times it's just the opposite.

I've experienced a fair amount of that. Some folks can't let shit go, even to the point of coming at me under their alter-screen-names when they've failed to sway me under their main account, lol.
