POKER Im pretty crap. I learnt the rules of Poker (Texas) by playing it on Red Dead Redemption on the Xbox! . Im gonna start playing for real again when I go back to Uni, but in the meantime I need a good website/software to practise on/with. . Anyone know of any? Free if possible!! Zynga is a good game to practise, but everyone is playing like shit because it isn't real money. After a while you should try out one of the cash games on pokerstars, partypoker, ... to see "the real thing". | |

I used to play poker a lot (by which I mean, a couple times a month) with my friends. We didn't usually play Hold 'em - it's a big group, which made for a looooooooong game. Instead, it was dealer's choice - Straight 7, 7 with one-eyed jacks and suicide kings wild, Little Chicago (low spade in the hole splits the pot), Mexican Sweat, Baseball, Night Baseball, High-Low, Big Love (high heart in the hole splits). We never played Anaconda, but I always wanted to learn that.
It was always just a friendly, low-stakes game - nickle ante, maximum quarter raise. After a few years, though, we all got tired of saving and hauling change around and came up with a $5 buy-in for chips - with the option of buying in one additional time if you went bust. We don’t mourn artists because we knew them. We mourn them because they helped us know ourselves. | |
