In the living years

Corny song, but the message is nonetheless a good one. Especially with your family, say it loud, say it clear - you never know what's waiting around the corner:

I heard this song on the radio the other day and just started crying. My mom has stage 3 cancer and isn't doing too well. It really makes me appreciate the time I get to be with her.

Hear, hear.

Ὅσον ζῇς φαίνου
μηδὲν ὅλως σὺ λυποῦ
πρὸς ὀλίγον ἐστὶ τὸ ζῆν
τὸ τέλος ὁ χρόνος ἀπαιτεῖ.”

I have said and discovered things I never thought I'd say to my mother the last few years.

And though, we're not 'functional' yet, life is a wonderous thing.

I think ultimately, the journey always ends the same way---we grow old, get sick, and die---but, there's something sweet about our 'connections' through it all when we can find the strength.

Life is a mystery even now as i'm older.

Great track. It reminds me of camping holidays in France when I was a kid, listening to whatever Hits! or Now! tape it was on.

Wish you the best and great experiences with your mum now that it's still possible.

99% of my posts are ironic. Maybe this post sides with the other 1%.

I make a point to tell my mom and dad I love them every time I see them or talk to them, generally as we are saying goodbye. Some people think that’s corny, or that it somehow loses meaning if it’s repeated too often. But I don’t.

Perhaps this is morbid, but you never know when it’s the last time you’ll see somebody. This way I’ll never have to wonder if they know (or knew) how I feel.

My oldest niece and my boyfriend are the recipients of frequent “I love you’s” as well.
