The two strongest forces in the universe are gravity and electromagnetism. And according to Bill Bryson, if gravity were represented by your left bicep, then to provide an accurate scale comparison of electromagnetism on your right bicep, the muscle would have to stretch from here to the edge of the known universe. And THEN the waves and particles stuff on top of it?

Yeah, you don't mess around with electromagnetism.

mm hmm. tesla had some interesting ideas working with electromagnetism. i was just thinking (while reading that thread about the crowd-control motivated suspension of wireless service by VIOLETBLUES in the P&R forum), that it's a dang shame we can't figure out how to use the magnetosphere for communications transmissions. be kind of hard to suspend that! big grin

By escaping life?

By deciding relationships aren't for you? Running away from situations that challenge you to develop your personal skills and views on life?

How can you not be down, now and then? That's part of life isn't it? I just don't get what is so bad about being down sometimes. IMO it enriches your life by allowing yourself to feel the whole array of emotions in stead of only allowing yourself to feel the 'good' ones and ignoring the ones you don't like.

Not meant as a personal attack, just want to challenge you. cool

I don't feel that I'm "escaping life". I've figured out what makes me happy and I do that. I have great relationships with my parents and friends and enjoy life immensely!

I think that what I love above all is freedom. I'm still very close with my most recent ex. But I wouldn't want to get involved with all that monkey business again.

How do you mean?

How can you not be down, now and then?

I have days where I get melancholy, but I don't allow it to linger.

Personally, I don't feel there's anything enriching about feeling shitty. shrug I'm not ignoring the emotions I don't like; I'm showing them who's boss. fryingpan

I enjoy being challenged. cool

You wouldn't be human if u never felt sad or down at times. What about people u miss who have passed, or beautiful times in ur life that can never return again? That sometimes makes me feel more than melancholy. You'd have to be a machine to ignore these kinda emotions.

Again, I can get a little melancholy here or there, but it's fleeting.

Beautiful times in my life that can never return again? I'm not a nostalgic person. I look at it this way: The best is yet to come. People I miss who have passed? That's life. shrug What am I gonna do? Sit around and obsess about it?

Of course, I do get sad when a friend or relative passes, but that's quite different from everyday "down".

I'm all for being happy & having a positive outlook on life, but there has to be a balance too.

There has to be a balance of happy and sad? Why would that be? If someone told you, "You can be happy all the time," you'd say, "No, thanks - I want to be bummed out a lot of the time, too"?
