I felt it. I live north of NYC. I've been sick for about a week now and I was just laying here and I felt my bed moving a bit. I thought I was going crazy
I was getting ready to leave for work when the quake hit, I was like
I live in N.Y. Yesterday, I was getting ready to do some errands and I felt the bed move for several seconds. I did not think that it was an earthquake. This happened a few years ago, my mother, neihbors told me about it(I was at work at that time and did not feel it as strong as they did. In the mid 80's I was a kid and do not remember the mini quake at that time. My older family members do. The New Yorkers are lucky that nothing serious happened. Hurricane Irene is coming this weekend.
Virginia did not have any major affects( as far as I know). I am glad that everyone is o.k.
And to think that this is rated as one of the 'best places' to live in the country in terms of services/infrastructure [which the rents also attest]...

Ah ah This made me laugh, but it's so true! Same thing here in Cambridge, MA, some sidewalks look like they have been bombed/shelled, and my seat at my desk shakes under me whenever a heavy van passes by my street!
Cambridge is like that too Central Square and the surrounding areas especially when the trains rumble in... you can feel them under your feet on the sidewalks.
Well, quite a few times over the past years [not sure when you mean:)]: Moscow --> Brussels (=home) -->Boston/Cambridge (my new base while studying). But I never really stopped at least reading the Org. Addicted for life I guess... So see you soon in these pages

we had a couple here in CA last night. They were like 3.something, and they were scary enough. It's a reminder how big 5.8 actually is!
Really? I didn't notice. And I'm usually ultra-sensitive to them. They don't really freak me out anymore, though. WHEN the big one happens its going to do whatever it wants. Can't stop it.

I'm still very actively addicted to the org, so, def. will see you around.
99% of my posts are ironic. Maybe this post sides with the other 1%.

yeah they were right under Oakland/San Leandro area. So it was pretty noticeable to me
They always scare me because I wonder how big they will be and because they are always a surprise. But once they happen I am pretty much back to normal. Like you say, not much you can do

I totally should have felt those. Completely oblivious.

Let's see if the city is ready to deal with the storm & its aftermath...
Stay safe wherever you are!
