I've never been in an earthquake that strong (and it did feel pretty strong; not CA strong, mind you ), so the geek in me thought it was VERY cool. But, I do hope no one's injured or any serious damage has come from this.

Crap. Boston's on a damn faultline.
I felt nada, but the street in my neighborhood are hollow and things rumble when heavy trucks or transit buses drive by two blocks away.
There are 3 sink holes that are growing also.... they are small but I thought it was from all the rain and snow. |

I felt it here in NJ.
I was watching TV... I live 2 houses in froma busy street, so I thought a big truck went by.
Then I got texts from 2 different people and switched over to the news...
"Love Hurts.
Your lies, they cut me.
Now your words don't mean a thing.
I don't give a damn if you ever loved me..."

It was reported that a 5.9 magntude earthquake was located in Virginia north of Richmond. We felt it for a few seconds. I was just turning my computer on when I felt it, our house shook but no damages, thank God. But it was felt all around the east coast for real. |

I wasn't. Actually it was a little fun lol but I knew when I felt everything rumble that we were experiencing a quake. I guess I wasn't as shocked as I thought I would be if a quake was to hit. I did move out of my chair a little but then after that it stopped. ![lol](/i/s/icon_lol.gif)

I survived 3 or 4 serious earthquakes when I lived in Los Angeles, so I immediately knew what it was, but it was still freaky as Hell. Maybe even more so, because it's the last thing you'd expect in Brooklyn, NY. It was a serious reminder of how spooky those things can be. I thought all my CD's were going to fall off the wall, lol. When I saw the Windex in the bottle sitting on my desk swishing back and forth... I was like... OH SHIT, lol.
Even now, I keep feeling mini after-shocks. "There's Nothing That The Proper Attitude Won't Render Funkable!"

A friend of mine is on a photo shoot in Charlotte. He said folks there were like, "Was that a bus?" ![lol](/i/s/icon_lol.gif)
Oooops...it wasn't the folks in Charlotte who said that. It was folks Wolf Blitzer was interviewing on CNN (must've been in Atlanta). [Edited 8/23/11 11:47am] We don’t mourn artists because we knew them. We mourn them because they helped us know ourselves. |

I haven't felt any aftershocks yet here in Central MD, but we'll see. It only takes a little bit to sppok a lot of people here in Maryland, though. ![lol](/i/s/icon_lol.gif) |

I know west coasters are used to this shit but we aint, so yeah, it was pretty freaky.
Shit started bouncing off on the walls and I ran to get the dogs out the house. Lola ran out the bedroom barking her head off. My heart was racing for sure.
The firetrucks just left my street. Guess they were checking stuff out. |

I guess they had to, to make sure no damage was there. I just heard someone said that people on the east coast have a different soil than those in the west so that's why this one was more widespread than in the west coast where it only hits a certain state (California). [Edited 8/23/11 11:56am] |
