Parents Take Simple Things To Serious.

So I got a warm bottled water from our pantry and poured the water out in the sink. All of a sudden, my old man comes out of the blue an curses me out. Telling me how much money I'm wasting.

So I ask him what's the difference, you can get warm water from the sink, it's just not in some plastic bottle. Ya know?

Do you do things your parents don't understand?

Also, fuck Sunny D and Hawaiian Punch. Nastiest juices ever.

Honestly I can see his point, kinda. Obviously he spent money on that bottled water and you just poured it out. That's the difference. Water from the tap is free so it doesn't matter if you pour it out. Bottled water, isn't.

Although, I don't really see the point of paying for water anyway. Most people think it's from a mountain spring and it turns out they're really just paying for tap water from another state. lol

And..Sunny D and Hawaiian Punch are the best shit ever. biggrin

I see. But I poured homemade Tea into the bottle. So I'm not actually waisting nothing but the warm water. Also, the water was going to be gone no matter what. If I drunk it, it would've been gone, when I poured it out, it was gone. So that doesn't matter ahaha

I'm with your dad on this one.

Don't waist water that you can drink, clean water is not to take for granted. And he didn't buy that bottle of water for you to throw it in the sink. He bought it for you to drink it.

99% of my posts are ironic. Maybe this post sides with the other 1%.

What ever happened to glasses?? confuse

Here is his point... You wasted the water he spent money on, and when that is gone he will have to replace the bottled water and spend MORE money because you are pouring them down the drain... why buy the water at all if your just gonna pour it out for a empty bottle... Dont they sell bottles that are empty in california? neutral

TylerHippie, i kind of look forward to your post. may i refer to you as "youngling searching for the truth.?

anyway, i'm trying to see your logic.

1. your dad spends a certain amount of money for bottled water

2. he supplies the drinking water for all the people in the house

3. maybe (secretly) he worries about the economy and the family income

4. perhaps he's trying to save as much as he can (pennies, nickels and dimes add up)

5. that bottle of water poured down the sink could've been used to make the tea

6. if you are financially independent, buy your own stock of water

7. maybe he takes the small things too seriously in your opinion however try to see it from his point of view (via 1-7)

to you the whole ordeal was way too serious. i was your age once (17-19?) and i always thought my mom and dad were seriously overbearing, however they made sure i had all i needed when i needed it.

so i think i understand your dad's p.o.v.: would you pour a bottle of soda or juice down the drain? both the water and the latter cost money. maybe his delivery was seen as too serious, but maybe you are taking the scenario too serious also.

remember this quote: "you can choose your friends, but you cannot choose your family." they will always love you. maybe not in the way you wish to be loved, but they will always be there for you. (respectfully) hug

TH, taking time to do a (psychological) role reversal might help you see his point. please don't conclude that i'm taking any side on this matter, it's between the two of you.

maybe you posted this thread to vent, and that's good and healthy for you, but your father might be under an amount of (unmentioned) stress. do you ever thank him for taking care of you and the family.

perhaps make this a rule for you:

save the empty used bottles, clean them and refill them with tap water for your own use. you will be helping the environment by recycling. (then your dad will have no reason to go so "serious" on you).

i feel he loves you TH, try to love him back with patience!

nod

-I have been thinking about this post Tylerhippie,

-ever since you posted it too.

-It is sort of delicate.

-You are a grown man, you should be able to do what

-you want to do in a responsible way.

-If your dad was upset because you are wasting money, then you should of

-gave him some money.

-It ALWAYS works for me.

-If I ever want to get my mom off my back, I hand her money.

smile

-Parents sometimes forget, that their children will one day grow up and have children of their own.

-Now if it was someone else who wasn't your blood parent or older blood relative, I would of

-told them to 'MIND THEIR BUSINESS because I'm Grown and I take responsibility for my actions.'

smile

-Also, Sunny D and Hawaii Punch are nasty!!

-I like fruit punch Crush soda if I am in the mood for a fruit drink, ya' know. wink

Get your own place, pay for it, buy all your own groceries, then watch someone who lives with you for free go pour something you bought down the drain.

That might help you understand your dad's point of view.
