The Filthy McNasty™ question(s) of the day

Would you wash a receptacle you were going to eat from with a communal dishmop kept under the sink at work?

Further, after dropping your "clean" dish on the (carpeted) floor of the kitchenette, would you then dump in a can of soup, heat and eat?

Discuss.

From this, I can only assume people are answering "yes" to both. disbelief

1. HELL no, it probably stinks and other peoples spit are in it!

2. If it dropped just on the bottom, id probably give it a quick wipe off with a wet rag... If it rolled around, i'd rewash it

It did. The rim definitely touched the floor.

The thing that shocked me was, I was standing right there - and she still picked it up and used it. I mean...even if you wouldn't normally re-wash, wouldn't you do it if somebody saw it happen? disbelief

did she microwave it?

It's probably fine. I doubt any germs are going to survive that.

but yeah I probably would wash it, personally

Someone used a dirty mop to clean a container?

No - a dishmop. Like a swabby q-tip for cleaning dishes.

Nope. Just picked up the bowl, set it on the counter, and dumped the soup into it.

The thing that's really disgusting is...I've seen people use those dishmops to clean all kinds of things other than dishes. I once saw someone using one to clean out a crusty, moldy flower vase about a month after Valentine's Day.

Does anyone ever nuke it? Depending on what it's made of, that will sanitize it.

I nuke sponges at home.

no.

When I was in the Air Force, due to a location that I was going to for a temperar tour of duty, I had tot ake chemical warefare training.

Anyways, part of the training was to disucss regular chemical and biological contaminants in regular, everyday, working environments--just regular germs people carry to work with themselves every day, and how dirty floors and surfaces were.

That shit had me exhibiting signs of self-induced OCD for ages.

I have some OCD too, always washing my hands after touching this or that, and I can smell the mildew on that dishmop through my computer.

but I believe much of it is just that---OCD.

I think that aside from the things I AM aware of, there are a hundred other things that rarely get washed and are covered in germs that I touch, like my computer, my cell phone, my belt (who ever cleans their belt buckle? But we touch it directly after going to the bathroom), our purses/wallets, our car seats, steering wheels, stair bannisters, doorknobs, money, pens, lighters, remote controls, books (especially cookbooks)

...all these things covered in germs, and yet I am almost never sick!

This woman can't be bothered to rewash a dish after she drops it on a carpeted floor that heaven knows how many people have walked and dropped food on. You really think she's going to take the time to nuke a community dishmop? lol

A) I never heard of a dishmop.

B) While I keep a clean kitchen, I will eat some shit I've dropped on the floor if the floor does not appear too traumatic and I manage to pick the item up quickly enough. Folk worry wayyyyy to much about what's "icky". Wimp-asses. rolleyes I bet she enjoyed her nasty soup and won't die or even get sick from it.
