I read that the latest thought is that your brain is temporarily misplacing memory, putting something that is just happening into long term instead of short term memory, so it feels as if you are remembering what you are doing.

Where did u read that??

I read that in a magazine in my dr's office. Dont recall the name of the magazine. It wasn't World News or In Touch.

-When the boring commericials come on, I happend to glance at a billboard,

-a certain number pops up like the price of something, say $33,

-well when I see the number I ALSO hear it on the radio station,

-AT THE SAME TIME!! omfg

-THAT IS SOME FREAKY ASS SHIT!

-It even gives me goose bumps. biggrin

I do have some, quite often. Not the reliving important moments kind, but it does for details, relevant or not.

I also pass by places for the first time with the feeling I already saw them before.

Is there any place of refuge one can flee from this insanity

Déjà vu was explained on an episode of the TV show Fringe. It's when the mind briefly becomes in sync with alternate versions of ourselves from parallel universes and we recall their memories from those same situations. Sounds as good as any explanation to me.

HeartThrob

I once had it happen before sex.

I was sitting on the edge of my bed taking off my boots and trying to decide what I should do to her first and when I looked up (there was a mirror) I saw the woman laying back in my bed in her thong and my leather jacket and suddenly it hit me, hard. It was like watching it all in slow motion, I knew

how she was going to move before she did it, I knew what she was going to pull out of my jacket pocket, I even knew what she wanted and how. It all happened so fast.

She said it was the best sex she ever had, I wonder if she said that both times we fucked.

You make me throb

I just read that thread.

So then what you are having deja-vu about is not necessarily the current situation, but rather the decision that led to this situation (which is different than the current situation in the parallel universe?)

I had to read your post five times before I thought I understood what you were saying. dead

In this universe the current situation is the decision, but in the other universe the decision was already made and the situation is no longer current, but slightly in the past. I think.

ah, that makes a lot more sense.

For some reason, I was thinking the parallel universes were running at exactly the same time. But there is really no reason they should, unless the universe literally split in two at those moments of decision, producing two universes where both possible outcomes happened.

It's probably too much Star Trek & Back to the Futures, where parallel universes exist in exactly the same time...although some of those were caused by time travel hmmm Does time travel create entire new universes?!

I can see that. I have read many a "true story" about stuff like that. Quite eerie.

-According to Sylvia Browne Déjà vu is a checkpoint. She teaches that we plan our life ahead of time in a blueprint. We plan who we are going to marry, who we are going to work out karma with, how many kids we are going to have, what we are coming here to learn. We put certain obstacles and lessons in our path so our soul can evolve. Of course we still have free will, but we basically sketch out certain things we want to come here to accomplish for our own spiritual growth. Déjà vu then is a checkpoint that marks that we are on the right path. It is usually something silly. For example, you reach down to pick up your car keys, and swear you have done it before at exactly this time, exactly this place, exactly this way, which is impossible because you were just in the kitchen. Yet, you still have that feeling. Sylvia Browne says that this is a check point. A moment that you planned ahead of time, that signifies that you are on the correct path, that your soul will remember and recognize when it passes through this point, this moment in time. So basically it’s a sign you are on the correct path.

Still of course..there are several different spiritual analogies of what this is...and scientific. We can only speculate and discuss.

This is one of the things that human knowledge cannot dissect and figure out. It's almost in good fun.

omg

This past Friday I had one.

I was standing in front of my closet, picking out clothes for the weekend, and I looked at the reflection in the mirror tosee the ex lying in bed watching TV...and it HIT ME! That time and place and even the emotions and shit happening right at that moment was familiar. Me picking out a particular shirt...knowing where I was going that night...looking over at her with disdain...it was all being repeated. It was as if I had just remembered some nightmare/dream that I'd had which was being brought to life.

I stopped for a minute or two and had to clear my head. It was so surreal.

disbelief

What about you?

Ever had one of these?

wait...what?

Good in the sense that I don't have to look at her face on a daily basis any longer.

Bad in that i don't get to be with my kids on a daily basis any longer.

Interesting theory. Sort of like saying there is a plan/purpose for everything, but it's not God's plan it's our own plan!

I had another theory, based on the parallel universe concept.

If the universe is infinite, expanding and contracting in an infinite series of big bangs, and if our souls are infinitely reincarnated, then our lives would eventually "repeat" with variations and identical situations.

Maybe the deja-vu is a memory from a previous existence that had an identical moment. Maybe the deja ju happens because the identical moment is from a more recent incarnation (like 100 trillion years ago lol ), so the memory is clearer.

Because Our plan IS God's plan.

God cannot wholefully experience being a living being 'by itself'; it can experience life through OUR plans. Because god is not a 'being' and it is part of everything that exsists..our free will of living and breathing is indeed part of 'the plan'. The plan is to keep exsisting, keep experiencing...keep learning, loving and growing.

Thats a good way to look at it. Deja Vu is interesting because really we all can come to different conclusions and no one will ever know...why we have already been there before. There is also no telling when it will happen..the best thing to do is to not stop it until it is over.

I'd be curious to hear a skeptic's view on it. I don't really believe in god, but I can theorize in ways that include "souls" and "god" because I agree with you that none of us really knows anything, so anything is possible.

But I wonder if a true skeptic thinks deja vu is simply a mini-stroke or something. They would have to have an ordinary explanation for it, like bad chicken.
