On a level, I've met more Americans claiming to be part Irish than I've met ACTUAL Irish people, and I live in England dammit.

I look more Irish than he does and I'm Black...LOL...

Seriously, I agree that mixed race people are generally very attractive (who said that they're nature's photoshop?). Yet, there are definitely exceptions to that rule. I've seen some pretty unfortunate looking mixed folks!

I was actually thinking in terms of celebs and Rain Pryor (Richard's daughter) popped into my head. But, it's all relative anyway. That's true about President Obama. If he was a regular-joe he'd pass for a Light Skinned Brotha and so would Shemar Moore. Mariah Carey is a different story. MiMi could pass for White or Latino. What I have ALWAYS respected about MiMi is she's proud of her ethnic-mix and she declared that the First time we heard a note out of her mouth. I would LOVE for somebody in Hollywood to get a BRAIN and redo "Imitation of Life" and cast Mariah as the Black woman passing for White and Oprah Winfrey as the Mother....I think Mariah could pull off the performance...

I know that Obama is half white, my point was directed at your original comment. There are mixed people who look totally white, totally black, totally asian, etc.

Actually, I kind of agree. And I swear, every time you ask one of them what that .05% Indian is that they consist of they always answer "Cherokee". The Cherokee tribe should start getting royalties or some shit.

Another thing, this has happens often...people will ask what I am and I will simply say I am mixed, black and white. They'll go on about how they are mixed too and list like "German, Dutch, and French". Okay so you're three flavors of white. I actually had one friend say "I'm more mixed than you! I'm part German, part Italian, part Serbian!" Yes and you are all white. You check that one box on the forms without thinking about it. And if I broke my white and black sides down into nationalities, I would sound even more mixed than said person than I already am. I really think some people exaggerate their "mixedness" because it's the "cool thing" to do. And no offense but it cracks me up when everything they cite is like part of the UK. "Oh I'm Scottish, Welsh, and Irish". Yeah ok, and I'm South Carolinan and Wisconsinite. Those two places are far more geographically removed.

Now I get that certain countries/cultures through isolation or whatever have grown to have distinct features over time. Still, it just annoys me when an overarching racial composition conversation turns into a zoomed in looked at every country an ancestor planted their seed in...for the sake of what amounts to a pissing contest.

Piggybacking on what FauxReal said, I've always heard that there are only 3 true races, African, white and Mongol, and everything else is just a mixture of the three. Is that fact or theory?
