Movies You Think Are Overrated?

I was talking with my room mate about this.... what are some films that in your opiniona re overrated?

one for me is Donnie Darko...

i think it is a tedious, silly movie. That tries to be confusing and dark.. but i get what it's trying to do... i just don't find it deep at all and the basic meaning behind has been done a bunch of times. What is so great about the film/: ?

Another is Brokeback Mountain, the characters are cheating on there wives and they have kids... i'ms orry gay or not. No respect for cheaters especially when they have kids i thought the characters where flat and stupid.

And Takashi Mike's Dead Or Alive triology... for those who have seen it haha.

Any who what are you orgers?

Well we disagree on Donnie Darko but i TOTALLY agree on Avatar. Visually stunning, but not a great written film... and very predictable lol

Totally agree on Donnie Darko. I thought it was dumb.

I'll also list a few that I've listed on here before:

Seven

Children of Men

Babel

Crash

Titanic

I'm not too big on Star Wars.

And from the stuff I read about The Exorcist, I was expecting to piss myself from the fright, but I just ended up laughing at most parts.

I thought Twilight was a load of crap!

I think thats the key: EXPECTATION. A lot of stuff is hyped. Like Avatar for example, it was only watched because of the groundbreaking 3D technology, which I think looks awful on some other movies.

.

The Exorcist isn't really scary at all, its really creepy, but thats slightly different. I love it personally but I havent found a movie scary since......erm.....well, your age! lol

Exorcist scares the crap outta me. But I've read the (far scarier) book. And I saw it when I was young. And I was raised Catholic. That's an Exorcist perfect storm.

Yeah I agree! I found the visuals amazing! But the story was just 'ok' and boring at times, I don't know how I survived watching all 3 hours of it!

Haha, I've never found a movie scary before, I've found them gross if they were gory, but never scary hmmm

I was 8 when I first watched SAW, I felt sick when watching some guy pull hooks out of his flesh, but that was it really!

I have a friend who sleep with the lights on because some movie scared her so much lol

Aha! I love SAW, I have all the dvds!

I haven't seen many horrors, but I love the Saw series (especially 2 + 3), The Shining, Silence of the Lambs, the Halloween remake (still need to watch the originals!), [REC], Amityville Horror (remake), Friday the 13th, Sweeny Todd (Johnny Depp one) - but I consider that one more as a musical/drama/comedy with blood.

I wouldn't say I Spit On Your Grave is one of my favourites, it's not that good, some parts are disgusting, but it's memorable! razz

I want to see Hostel, 28 Days Later, The Descent and High Tension, and there's more but I can't remember them lol

Hahaha good luck!

Kenneth Turan summed it up perfectly in his review in the LA Times - he called it "a film for mall rats of all ages." lol

Didn't like Insidious one bit. But I guess I can't call it overrated since the general feeling is that it sucked.
