I must say this... this woman is my hero. My actual hero. I love her.
I love her and her music. Weren't there talks of a biopic for her years ago? They need to get on that.
IIRC Gloria Estefan was working on something around the time her autobiography came out right before she died. I haven't heard anything since. Her life definitely deserves the grand Hollywood treatment but I doubt it will ever happen for obvious reasons. |

I hope they do, if any story deserves to be told its hers. She was music royalty, and she helped shape the sound of modern music. She was always a lady too.

Isn't that often the way though? Women proclaiming 'big is beautiful', how they're happy just the way they are, like it's purely a choice, and all that stuff, but given half a chance to drop a few pounds...
It's a shame. We all have our foibles and insecurities though. MY COUSIN WORKS IN A PHARMACY AND SHE SAID THEY ENEMA'D PRANCE INTO OBLIVION WITH FENTONILS!! |

She's in Essence every month, I don't think she's classified as "plus size" anymore |

For shame. If we're talking fierce, how you gonna forget this lady?
A track and field legend I grew up watching. She always struck me as the model of class and professionalism, and was still going strong up until she was 40.

Sorry. Jill's cute as a button too.
Was gonna post Goapele. It's weird, but she's beautiful to me even though I know I normally prefer a different look/features.
Same here! There's something so edgey and fascinating to her face and her look though. Angular and quirky, but she's still got softness because of her smile. I think she's stunning, but as with you, she's not what I normally go for.

Speaking of Track and Field, I had a thing for Christine Arron, the French Olympic Sprinter for at least a summer though I don't usually go for overly muscled types.

Her edges aren't all pulled to death and glued into the braids with gel, so her hairline will stay intact because her braids... even being narrow... are braided correctly and not too tight.
I hate to see braids where all the baby hairs are pulled into the braid. OUCH!
I love her hair, all her pictures are so striking. |

That's good. I keep tryin' to tell my sister-in-law to stop braiding my niece's hair so tight, but everytime we see that lil' girl...
I'd love a style like hers, but I don't have that kinda patience. Honey, stop talking and just create the music. |

I'm tryin; Lord knows I am. She has very thick, coarse hair while my older nieces have very fine hair (one has curly cues, the other's is straight as a bone and won't curl for nothin'). My brother and SIL seem to think that because her hair's not like her cousins', can't nothin' be done.
I'm like, "Hello?!? I have thick, long coarse hair. Just gotta take care of it the right way!!!" Honey, stop talking and just create the music. |
