ok all you orgers ..

i know im out of the loop on all this new tech stuff.. but i came into a problem yesterday.. my video camera broke and i cant do a video for the videowhore thread...

so i know alot of people have been talking about skype at my work and stuff.. i get the jist of it but..

have any of you used it?

do you like it?

is it worth me investing money into a nice web cam with a built in mic? or would you just go buy a new video cam and do it the old fashioned way?

give me your pros and cons

Skype is cool.

I like it.

I have a good friend who travels a lot, so we talk once a week, face-to-face.

My guy recently moved, so we use it to talk so we can still see each other.

Well....

Just about an hour ago. I hopped on skype and chatted with that fine-ass military boy. No waiting to meet face to face to see what they are really like - looks wise and personality. It's all right there on cam.

I finally skyped, but it was like a phone call, not a video chat.

It was much clearer than a phone call, but it got dropped once or twice.

And if it's long distance there might be a little delay, depending on the connection, maybe

I guess I'm just a little ignorant in regards to how its any different than using a webcam with Yahoo Messenger, or MSN, or whatever. I used webcams on Yahoo Messenger for years - it was perfectly clear and rarely froze or dropped. If you had a mic you could also talk in real time. So, ya know, I get it, there MUST be something better about Skype, I just don't understand what it is.

Yeah, I was in so much pain at the time. I think I even had to stop because I couldn't take it, and was about to break down again.
