How Important? [EDIT]

-is the title of a thread to you?

-Does it matter to you? Is it a pet peeve?

_I noticed some titles that are so unique. Like Imago in the Artist forum. Genesia used a unique title too for her martini frames and Fauxie had a hot topic within an hr with his.

-I'm just curious. Cheers. coffee

50/50. Not all meaty threads have intriguing titles, so it is hard to say.

I do like catchy thread titles, but it's not a prerequisite. I do believe that the author should be taken into consideration, though.

-When I skim down the threads, some people get upset because a certain punctuation wasn't used, like in the concert forum and thelas vegas thread. lol

They're good to initially catch folk's eye but that can be a double edge sword.

If a thread doesn't live up to the title you can always jack it so going in there wasn't a total waste of your time.

The thread titles mean nothing to me, it's all about the subject matter specifically, I'll only click if it's something I'm interested in.

As far as other people go, I'm fully aware that people tend to be more likely to click on a thread if they think the title is snazzy or attention-grabbing in some way so I do take that into account when I make a thread.

Well, in a way yes. Even if it's a shit title, if the thread maker is popular (in a good or bad way) people still want to check it out.

I think it goes something like this:

Bad Reputation: People wanna read it to see the crazy shit they say.

Good Reputation: People wanna read it to see the crazy/funny shit they say.

No Reputation: People may or may not read, depending on the title.

-The content in the threads can be amazing in many ways.

-I just can't help but to notice the styles used to name threads when i scroll down the message boards.

-People do become popular in their threads, some within mins sometimes! eek

-I like to lurk around and see all the action in the threads.

-I wonder what is the record for the MOST replies in a thread? A thousand? hmmm

not at all. I generally skim the titles and just open ones that look interesting or funny in new tabs. I also open ALL threads that are started by certain orgers like myfavorite and number23. they're always gold.

sometimes I get peeved when the title doesn't match the thread at all. I opened it cause that's what I thought it was about! Damn tricksters.

What's even better is that a thread titled 'PHOTOHO YOURSELF LOOKING AT YOUR MOST JANKITY AND UGLY AS FUCK' would turn out almost identically in terms of both photographic content and reply count. smile
