A borrower nor a lender be
Do you like lending people things to people or do you it begrudingly? Has someone really taken the piss when it comes to something that they borrowed in terms of returning it. Has anyone ever lost something of yours that you lent them? There's Joy In Expatriation.

People NEVER return shit here, so I'm getting used to it.
I normally lend with no problems at all--but, back in Tampa, people returned stuff, so I'm conditioned to not worry about it so much.
Here, I still lend things pretty easily, but I have little expectation of seeing them in a normal period of time. Sometimes months go by...sometimes these fools just forget.

I used to not mind lending things to friends...but I have thoroughly learned my lesson when a "friend" of mine borrowed a pair of my sunglasses (worth $650) and a ring (worth much more) and then made every excuse not to give them back. I got my glasses back after having to make a huge stink, but I never got my ring back.
So the lesson is, don't lend anything that you would be upset about not getting back....and never lend out anything that has any real value because they will want to keep it!

Money - never. I'll give someone money with no strings attached, but I never lend it. Its the fastest way to ruin a relationship I know.
Anything I have even a small emotional attachment to I have to consider who it is and how much I care about it. But if feel like they're trustworthy, or I wouldn't be totally annoyed if they proved to be otherwise, yeah, I'll lend.
