i have a 12 year old boy who doesnt live with me and a 3 year girl who does...i must admit the internet does worry me slighty in the way it has changed our lives....we all know you can get almost anything up on your screen in 2 or 3 clicks...stuff which you would never have got access to 20 years ago ...

does it worry you that its soo easy to get almost anything soo easily...and i am not just talking about hardcore extreme porn but violence ...social websites and other sick stuff...i know there are nanny software but there is always ways round these things and they are not full proof....i just hope the easy access to all this doesnt affect them negatively in any way...

i am an old fart now and but if i was 12 again....i dont know what i would make of all this stuff soo easily accesed.. ..i wonder if it would have had a negative affect on how i view the world...?

i worry they type fairy or cat or sausages.... and normal word to them that can bring up crazy images!!!

i worry about face book and all the pics they post which attract attention only because they are beautiful, and i know its innocent to them, but there are so many crazy people ot there

but i know that i cant bubble wrap them forever, and all i can do is watch and make sure they are safe hoping they know what not to do or look at when i am not with them

I worry more about the nasty women I see from my childhood or church and they "joke" about breaking in my son in ten years...

those "grooming" jokes are so disrespectful, not to mention gross as all hell. So yeah, I am on my P's and Q's on who gets to be around my kids in real time and online.

i have parental controls set on my computer. but it is scary to think what my son could see on someone elses.

I disabled safari and youtube on my kids ipod touch, and they have their own log in on the computer which only lets them on sites I've approved.

BUT it doesn't stop them from looking at whatever at their friend's houses where the parents are more lax about it.

Some parents have never read the comments on youtube for example

So yeah make sure you lock up those porn sites till they turn 15.

I see what my young cousin posts on facebook and he has no clue that I'm shaking my head at how stupid he is acting, and sometimes laughing at him being so bad at hiding it from relatives, and wishing I could tell him to stop making an ass out of himself to impress girls cause it's coming off as creepy sometimes, but he doesn't know I spy on him, and I'm not about to tell his mom either cause he's so sheltered and has to learn the hard way. I acted stupid too online at his age and would be mortified if someone older got involved. I just gave a couple of pep talks a couple of times with humor, but left it at that.
