do you love your job?

today was a life changing thing for me at work.. ive been doing hair for 8yrs now and i accepted a new client today at the salon...

she was newly divorced and in need of a major change.. basicly she wanted a makeover.. so we took her from blonde to a debra messing red and then added a touch of sun kissed highlights. we cut her long locks off into a 2011 reba mcintyre style hair cut .. she looked completly different when i was done and about 10yrs younger.. while i was doing her hair i didnt face her toward the mirror until every last detail was perfect.. and when i handed her the mirror she looked and tears were running down her face she got up out of her chair and bear hugged me.. she told me she had never felt so beautiful.. and that she now can feel good about herself when she goes out.. ive never in my 8yrs of beauty had someone cry over their hair because they were so happy and this is the reason why i love my JOB and i love people.. i couldnt imagine doing anything else.. i believe i do what i was born to do and that makes me feel damn good!!

do you love your job?

if you dont what do you think your dream job would be?

and if you love your job tell me why...

Before I answer, I just have to say how cool it is that you helped change someone's life like that- moments like that are rare in life in general.

I'd say, I don't love my job. I don't hate it either, and it helps that I'm very good at it, its just not my passion . I'm looking into self publishing some artwork, but until I work on a few things, thats probably a year or two off.

Congrats! That really is what the beauty industry should be (at its core) all about!

And yes, I love my job.

it's growing on me...

I had to temporarily abandon the whole small business owner schtick in favor of something that actually paid... sigh

I'm a District Manager for a Uniform/Linen Rental Company... I like the job for the most part but I'll tell ya, there are some restaurant owners/ Executive Chefs that just SUCK! They lose and damage all our stuff and then refuse to pay for it... disbelief

But I get money so woot!

clapping Now that's what it's all about! So happy that you could do that for her, and what she gave back to you in gratitude was equally a gift.

I LOVE my job it's very satisfying, I get to work from home, and it pays the bills nicely too!.

Yes, very much.

I feel like I make a difference in young people's lives while doing something that I feel passionate about.

** No one should become a teacher unless he/she loves it.

You HAVE to love it to put up with the bureaucratic BS, insane parents, disrespect from kids and community, and low pay.

I liked my job until I found out I was losing it. Now it's very hard for me to get up in the morning to go to it. I feel a lot of it is just me distancing myself, like it won't hurt as much to leave if it's something I don't enjoy anymore.

My dream job is for someone to pay me to watch tv in my pajamas. razz Other than that, I have no idea what I'm going to do when I grow up. sigh

Yes I do. Why? because it's easy! fulfilling? no..not really but I figure I'll milk this baby while I can. I used to do a different line of work for the same company, I used to love that too..because it wasn't easy. LOL smile

I've been with this company for going on 14 years so I have max benifits (6 weeks vaca a year) they are flexible with me if I need it. I have health, and dental insurance for my whole family at a relatively good price and I have a 401K. (NOT looking at that this week) we've had stock options in the past and employee stock purchase plans too. They throw great holiday and or summer parties (open bar) and gave me a sweet severance when they laid me off a few years ago. smile

I think we're being bought out by another company though....not sure what the future will hold.

I really don't know what my dream job would be....I think it would be to own a bar. smile

"not a fan" falloff yeah...ok
