There needs to be more action flicks with females as the main character out there. Sure, "Dragon Tattoo" is coming, and this one too, and Angelina Jolie does a lot of these types of roles, but we need more. I'm so sick of seeing women be passive, dumb, helpless sluts in movies.

I'd like to see something in between the helpless slut and the Angelina type action hero.

I find it boring when they play it so cool. I liked how Indiana Jones always seemed in over his head and scared out of his mind. It makes the action more fun if there is an element of risk.

But Zoe is hot, I'd watch her play it cool smile

I love to watch them play cool and like kick everybody's asses without even taking off their sunglasses lol . I could watch shit like that all day. Probably because I'm a female, so seeing other females whoop ass is just incredibly awesome.

I can still remember how I went around in a state of near-euphoria for days after I first saw the movie "Wanted". lol

I'd love to see Natalie Portman play an action hero.

I think a lot of people like that type of hero. Maybe it works better for women, because it's against the grain, but it's amusing to see men in over their heads and acting a little dorky

Do we need more rehashes of this kind of action movie? Retire this vibe! It's old.

I did think "Domino" was fun. That was in 2005. It's 2011. Need a new kind of action movie.

...So they should stop making them at all purely because you're sick of them? falloff

No one's going to force you to go to the theater and see if. If it's not for you, don't check it out.

Oh, it's not just me. Many are not making as much money or cultural buzz as they hope because people are getting numb to feeling excitment from it. What was that recent one by Zack Snyder?

All it will take is one new movie to try something new and cool, and then everyone will run to see it, and then they'll try to copy that for 10 years until it's run into the ground.

All different kinds of specific genre styles die out because they get too predictable/repetitive (hence boring) and then don't generate popularity. It happened to westerns back in the 50's. It's happening to romantic/drama-comedies that use a certain formula. It's happened to slasher films after the 80's (which were sparked up again when "Scream" did something new in the late 90's).

The action film is now up for a fresh approach.

Oh yeah, they are running the superhero genre ragged too. Ironman (the first one) tried something new with the sarcastic antisuperhero, and Dark Knight by trying to be deathly serious and operatic... but it seems to me that people are getting numb to some of them like Captain America or Green Lantern.

Luc Besson only knows how to make one of action film and OCCASIONALLY they're actually tolerable. I actually liked Nikita and Leon (The Professional) when they first came out... but he's the type that says (hey it worked these past 5 times I'm gonna make the next 15 in the same format).

Only reason I would see this film in the theatre is to see and support Zoe, only because its rare for dominirican like her to get a lead role in this type of American/French film.. otherwise I'll wait till its on netflix.

Change it one more time..

If you (and others) don't like it, don't go see it. Simple.

Shit - I don't like romance movies, but you don't hear me saying they shouldn't make any. I'm not that self-centered to expect everything to be tailored to my specifications, and I know some people DO like them. So I go and find other shit to watch that is more my taste.

Win-win, everybody's happy.

That aside - I think I've finally found what I want to do with mah life.

I want to be an action hero.

I wouldnt underestimate the power of the Besson enterprise. His movies have over the top action with lots of shooting, crazy guns, people with perfect aim, near death cliffhangers and fast paced violence so men always leave happy, and theres always something really sad and then a really super sappy ending so all the wives and girlfriends dragged to see movies abut assasins, or innocent bystander heroes or underdog ninja slum warriors leave happy as well and give their men sex when they get home.

Change it one more time..

oh yeah, La Femme Nikita and The Professional were damn cool when they came out. Nikita was probably the first time I saw this kind of flashy action female movie. That was also one of the first times I saw soon after saw the less effective Hollywood remake (the one with Bridgette Fonda).

If you pick up the latest issue of GQ magazine, they have an article about real life superheroes, people that dress up in costume and go out on the city to try to do good. Check it out. There's a really crazy guy in Seattle.

Actually, there's a TV show (don't know what channel) that profiles these loonies...er, I mean heroes.
