How do you make your money?

I am in the process of trying to figure out what the hell I want to do for a living. I really envy those that grew up knowing what they wanted to do as a career,I honestly never thought about it.

So...

What do you do for a living?

Did you always know this was the job for you?

Do you enjoy it?

How did you get into your profession?

If you had to choose something else to do,what would it be?

I'm not working right now but I am in school for the field I truly enjoy which is accounting. I never knew what I wanted to be but I thought about nursing for awhile but due to back problems, I decided not to go that route. Plus, I'm not the most patient person in the world.

When I got laid off last year, the opportunity for paid schooingl was part of the package. I knew I wanted to take advantage of it but I thought long and hard about what I really wanted to do. I was an office manager for ten years and I loved it. A big part of that job was accounting and I always enjoyed it. It's something that I looked forward to doing.

I took an aptititude test before I chose a college. It was actually part of the process with my unemployment agency. Accounting was number one and it's a growing field. So now I am pursuing that and I'm enjoying school tremendously. biggrin

I'm a graphic designer, the bulk of my work is in books and I've got a history in magazine publishing, something I'd be quite keen to get back into, given the chance.

At the moment I'm active as a photographer as well, just got an image on the cover of a magazine woot! and I love doing portraits and headshots.

I'm freelancing for Aveda until Christmas, and THAT is going to prove quite challenging (in juggling it with my family and LIFE, since it looks to be full on dead I was in there for 9 hours yesterday, I'm not used to that!!!)

I'm a copywriter for a large clothing company.

I started working here as a writer 14 years ago...after working 5 years part-time for the company in another capacity. (That was my foot in the door.)

Before that, I did television weather (for five years), was a radio journalist (for another three years), a communications director and advisor for a political party (couple more years at that), and a press secretary for a state senator (six years).

The only one of those jobs that was planned was the TV weather gig (my first career). I fell backassward into everything else.

My work life hasn't been dull, that's for sure! lol

Are you serious? If yes, this is very interesting.

If I may ask, how much do you earn with that? Regularly? What kind of people are your customers? What kind of things do you sell on? Does it really pay off in the end (given the amount of time you spend on it etc.). If this is too private for the forum, I would settle for an orgnote too, of course. If it's too private for an orgnote, then fuck off.

I'm a student and live at my girlfriend's place mostly, so I don't need a lot of money.

I give private lessons in English and Maths (usually about 3-4 hours a week for 20€/h), I'm a musician and earn about 600-800€/gig (but have to pay my band and soundman, which is with half of what I get, usually), and sometimes I still earn money by making people (women) happy, but excluding sex and kissing and anything too personal/emotional nowadays. I may give a massage, accompany someone, be a week-end gentleman etc. These things come around like once in one to two months only, but it still gives my a lot of pleasure, fun and an extra 20-60€ per month on average. I used to sell my body (to people who I wanted to sell it to and to people who I knew were healthy; and not out of desperation!). Like a fancy whore who you could go to the theatre with first and then get an introduction to anal sex with later that night. Again, this was quite rare, because I really picked out who I wanted to sell myself to, but it was fun and if there was the opportunity for me to travel to different countries all of the world every week-end, to spend it with some rich, older, lonely woman for 2000€/night, excluding flight tickets, food and accomodation, I would welcome it, even if I had a woman I actually loved (which I do at the moment).
