"You know yopu stole my son's bike, he's 20... he wanted to beat your ass, but I don't want him going to jail, so instead we reported it to the police... does your family know you are keeping stolen goods? Do they have all their papers in order? I may need to report this to the management since you are stealing bikes... you're lucky we aren't thuggish people, we have been seeing you ride this bike for 5 weeks now. You do realize people get shot or stabbed in the hood for this sort f stuff right?"

no no no! sad

When it's your kids...you do/say some mean shit sometimes.

Oh yes... I got all "momma Bear" on that poor kid... his parents didn't want to speak to me today. I guess they only want to speak to people who speak their language. neutral

hmmm Good idea Mach & SexyL... I will donate it. I hate that the police can't be bothered... but I do live in a high drug traffic area, they have bigger fish to fry.

There's a bike shop up the street... I may give it them to donate.

Bike shops get busted for selling stolen bikes (I know a place here in berkeley got in trouble) I think you should take it to the police if it actually is stolen, it might be registered.

but, if they really are not interested, then yeah maybe the bike shop, I dunno

Yeah, if he does try to sell it he will get in trouble, so my son went there today, haven't asked him yet how that went.

I may just give it to the police. nod I think my son called them today... but he took off. He won't be home til much later.

first i'd have a good long giggle because, that shit is pure comedy. like life so often is. i'd take the bike back to the kid's home, rign the doorbell and run. whofarted i do not know. good luck

lol Isn't it though? lol

There's a saying... "You gotta laugh to keep from crying because life is funny like that."

I think in this case, its a perfect saying. Kid did no good riding around in a stolen bike.

What shocks me is that if I ever brought a stolen anything in my house, my mom would beat my butt and make me return it... I just don't understand the parents of these two boys.

These boys will go south soon enough and end up in jail if there is no intervention. I wish Unis's parents spoke English. sigh

maybe the way to regard the situation: your son's bike was stolen; a stolen bike came to him. in a way it balances out. and yes, life is chock full of those gotta laugh moments lol

As I was reading that, I was thinking the whole time, "How do you even know that's your kid's bike". lol

Give it back, apologize profusely, and hope no one shows up trying to beat you down.

If you knew me... you wouldn't worry about that at all. lol

I told the kid he was lucky he didn't get hurt... he saw me today, still scared.... poor thing. I told the police he is stealing bikes, gave them the adresses of his buddy Habib and his home. The two who steal bikes in our area.

My son's new bike he purchased arrived via fedex today.... so we will be donating the other bike that was stolen to the bike shop folks up the street. He'll refurbish it and give it to a kid you deserves it more.

Fuck that little thief. I still wanna beat his ass for trying to get my 9 year old daughter in a hallway. Creep. Still might pay a few kids to whoop his ass.

...You say that like people fight fair nowadays lol . For all you know a whole gang of people would show up and then you'd be fucked.

Which is why...I'd hand the bike right back, apologize, and then lie lowwwwww.

lol Like I said, I am not worried. That's not a fear, he's not a thug just a dumb kid. Trust me, thugs don't give up bikes and say sorry. lol I grew up in a bad neighborhood.... these are not bad people like that.

I appreciate your concern though. hug

That's true, they don't, but I've heard plenty of stories about cowards running and getting other people rounded up to jump on folks, pre-planning shit and stuff. eek

I'd stay in the house for a few days. boxed

My son gave the bike to the guy at the bike shop up the street. He gladly accepted it.

My son is on his new bike now... enjoying it. My younger kids are outside enjoying themselves.

I peek in on them from every now and then. My daughter didn't want to go outside earlier. But she's enjoying herself now. smile

I won't be worried about any retaliation. The kid believes he returned a stolen bike and righted a wrong he did. He didn't get beat up or anything and I hope that bike finds its way to its original owner. As for my son's original bike that was stolen... well its gone.

Oh well... life goes on. biggrin

Think of it this way...him giving you the bike is payback for being a creepy little douche - I mean come on now...a HIGH SCHOOLER hitting on a 3rd grader?!?!?

WTF is that all about????? disbelief

You should'a made him give you his wallet while he was at it.

He brought it up the street to the bike shop. I will never let that little kid know it wasn't my son's bike. For all he knows he returned a stolen bike to its proper owner.

But I couldn't give it back to the kid... the original owner of the stolen bike may have seen him and whopped his butt or shot him because they claimed they stole the bike from the infamous "D" street projects ..... the next neighborhood over... like six blocks. You get stabbed or beaten badly for stuff like that there. disbelief

The real owner of that stolen bike was most likely a child of a thug or a thug himself... so this kid is LUCKY he got to dump that bike off before he got caught with that bike. The bike was crap too... gears were gone.. so hopefully the bike shop gives it to a needy kid and I hope lil' Mr. Pervy bike thief learned his lesson.

My son got his new bike... a mongoose maxim with full suspension and he got a decent kryptonite lock ... the New York one... lets hope he gets to use it for a while. lol

Told my son not to park it in train stations anymore... duh! I hope he learned his lesson too. duh lol
