I need to tone my stomach more.

Anyone got any tips? I'm happy with everywhere else on my body, but my stomach could use a bit more toning, is there anything you guys know that would be super effective? Most of my exercise is cardio, dancing, cos other shit bores me lol.

Swimming! Why didn't I think of that? I need to find a pool nearby then. I love to swim.

Diet isn't a problem... I'm vegan! Not that you can't be an unhealthy vegan, but I watch what I eat.

because of the way cortisol works in the body, I read that it's good to only eat fruit before noon, then go for considerably more protien once your day is good and started.

people tend to crave carbs, proteins and fats for breakfast and when you do this first in the morning you are training your metabolism to be slower actually.

I also notice that people who skip breakfast or wake up and start smoking or something rather than eating tend to be thin... but since that is not healthy, there may be something to the fruit thing because it's a few carbs but it's quickly burned carbs, lots of fiber that do a lot of people good first thing in the morning and it's quickly assimilated for that energy you need in the morning... plus a lot of the water soluble vitamins that you always need to replinish especially when dieting or anything like that. it's a good idea to get those first thing in the morning that way.

or be like me and worry about crap like it's going out of style.

I really do think that will make you be thinner actually.lol

lol Good luck to ya.

I've had two blows to my self esteem in the last couple weeks.

The first one was here when Fauxie told me we were belly twins or whatever the hell he said......and then last night at dinner my 8 year old sold told me my belly is big. neutral

I know what ya gotta do, I just don't have time or energy to do it.

No sugar.

And do a combination of cardio and strength. Focus on your abs like 4 times a week.

your abs are/were always there, you just have to lose the gut that hides them. cardio and sensible diet until you lose the fat.

everyone's a fruit & nut case

Thanks for all the advice guys! I'm determined to do it! I defo need to cut the carbs/sugar. I wouldn't say I have a LOT of either, but I could have less.

Ren - I will have a look at those apps! Thanks! I have the CardioTrainer one that tracks your workouts but I'll download a few more too.

John - well, if i can tone up the way I want to, i'll upload some pics...lol

The trouble with that is that throughout the night your body hasn't had any protein. Especially if you exercise in the morning, or walk to work or whatever, you're really going to want to get protein in you as soon as you get up. If you're working out in the morning you'll then want some carbs and more protein straight after. That is, if you wish to build and maintain muscle, which ultimately must be the goal, right? (being fit, toned and strong rather than just slim). Simple carbs in fruit can definitely get you going in the morning but I think it is best for most to add a little protein in there too. Remember there's a fair bit of sugar in a lot of fruits so it can have negative consequences with blood sugar levels and all that. Complex carbs are always going to be better too, I think, if you have such a foodstuff you like to eat in the morning (I know some can't eat that much that early and fruit's certainly pretty easy to get down).

All this said, I'm in the same boat and need to work on my gut. I think it just comes down to cardio and not drinking beer. lol Crunches are great but you can't specifically target fat around your trunk by doing them. I can get stuff like oxandrolone here cheaply so I use that for toning up and shifting trunk fat, but I'm still too lazy about cardio and drink too much beer to have banished my gut and 'love handles' up to this point. The most effective thing I could do would just be to cut back on beer, but I'm finding it nearly impossible. I don't look like a heavy drinker at all overall when clothed, but it's starting to look silly to me how it's the only part of my body with any significant body fat. I must be 10% or less BF without my damn beer belly. mad

Cut out soda/fizzy drinks/pop/whatever you call them, don't eat huge meals for dinner and definitely not too late. Try to eat very healthy little snacks throughout the day to keep your metabolism up. Cut out/down the alcohol. Lots of cardio, crunches to get the abs nice and firm underneath ready for when that fat starts to shift. You could try L-carnitine or CLA or one of those supplements to help you, but I think they're all pretty pricey unless you buy powders, and while they're very good for you a bit of a luxury really.

Do as I say, don't do as I do (he says, sipping on his beer lol )

Oh Dani, I'm sorry! lol boxed Since I twinned my own belly with yours I didn't think I was being that unkind, since I know what my belly looks like and I know relatively speaking it ain't that big. Just that we seemed to have a similar-sized little paunch, looking at photos. We can do it, and we'll be washboard stomach buddies! lol It doesn't have the same ring to it as belly buddies though. Ok, I'll stop now. neutral
