Project Runway - Season 9

At last! Season 9 kicked off last night? Who's your fave?

I watched the casting special and was in the kitchen when they came to Bert. I stood there sobbing into my tuna melt. He worked for Bill Blass, Arnold Scaasi and HALSTON?! Get the eff out! And his story...just gut-wrenching. I am thrilled beyond words that he won the first challenge.

Best line of the night: "Are you speaking foreign? neutral " Laura Kathleen - what the hell?!

Miss Trinidad Tobago is a big fat liar. There is no way in hell she just started sewing four months ago.

I just watched the extended critique video with her and Tim. Am I really supposed to believe that she knew (despite being a sewing novice) that the best place to put a zipper on a pair of pants you haven't fit yet is the back seam? And that she set that invisible zipper perfectly on a curved seam? And (apart from the sewing) that she was able to thread that professional machine perfectly, without the thread breaking, the needle snapping, or her fabric getting sucked into the throat plate? Not even once?!

Riiiiiiiiight.

Something doesn't pass the smell test there.

I totally agree. And if I hear her say "And I've never done that before." ONE MORE TIME!!!!!!!!!!

Sure is a motley bunch this season, the only ones interesting is the one baller color blind New Orleans dude and the Betsy Johnson wanna be Portland Woman.

I don't believe the woman who only learned how to sew 4 months ago and Pedodad is gonna get kicked off for fondlying some poor boy.

I'm just glad that dude with the thing growing under his chin is gone...he was hard to look at...although that chic with those wack ass pants should have gone first.

And I think mis Trinidad is not telling the whole truth.....those pants were too easy for her and silk is a bitch

Actually...sewing silk isn't that difficult - as long as you don't try to do something that isn't appropriate for the type of fabric you're using.

People think silk is slippery, but it really isn't. It has a natural stickiness to it - so when you're sewing two pieces together, they don't slide against each other like, say, polyester made to emulate silk.

I just made a dress out of the sheerest, flimsiest silk you could imagine - and the hardest part was cutting it. I had to sandwich the fabric between layers of tissue to keep the fabric from sliding out from between my shears. Compared to that, sewing it (even doing a rolled hem) was a piece of cake.

Think about all those kids who started drawing or playing instruments, and right from the beginning, they were appallingly good at it. They just knew how to draw, or just knew how to play the piano already.

Sure, it's not common, but it happens.

Even so...they're typically not virtuosi four months in.

unfortunately, i cant say a whole lot in these threads, as i have all kinds of inside info. i am connected and/or friends with several people in the staff and know what has happened thus far in real time.

BUT i will say this: for those of you that are big PR fans... there is a big surprise coming down the pipe that hasnt been announced yet. you will probably shit your pants with joy when you hear.

i dont know when the announcement is coming, but once it does, i can give you some really cool pics and info. got emailed a particularly awesome pic from the set while on vacation last week, but cant put it up till the announcement is made.

So I was out last night and only got to watch the runway show. I must say, Michael and Nina are pretty insufferable this season. Heidi got run over again.

I have to watch the repeat to find out what the heck was behind Bert's monstrosity. Yikes.

Bert was a little too big for his britches this week, whcih was disappointing.

I personally was not overly impressed by the winner. It was nice, but I didn't find it THAT amazingly chic like they were raving.
I thought Heidi's pick should've won also. nod

The fit was bad on the winning dress, I thought. It was poofy on top, poofy on the bottom and cinched in the middle. Never a good look.
