This old bitch says DON'T DO IT to anything acid-wash.shake

Didn't we do enough damage once already? Learn from our fashion mistakes don't replicate them. sad

This fossilicious specimen also wonders what the fascination with youngins wearing these black dress socks pulled up with shorts is all about. neutral

I've been thinking of buying some acid wash tapered cut jeans boxed

Oh great now Johnart is going to Vogue.

99.9% of everything I say is strictly for my own entertainment

I swear you have the most distracting avatar pic in the whold wide world.... biggrin

Is that a good or bad thing?

It's an amusing thing. It's kinda funny because my eyes go back to it on autopilot at least twice before I can finally focus on whatever you're saying lol .

As far as the actual topic goes though - one thing I will say, is that at least 80s clothes weren't boring. A lot of color, and just alot of unusual shit going on in general. Then the 90s came and that all got shot straight to hell...

I'll teach you how to "tight-roll" your jeans.

I think nothing is tackier and more 80s exclusive than "tight-rolling" your jeans. Yes, rolling your jeans is a 50s spin-off. YES, people still do.... but the 80s had it so bad that it created this new hybrid style. As a long legged skinny person who could never find the right jeans, I was very guilty of it.

.... but then we just took care of THAT shit altogether and we were able to achieve the maximum amount of lower leg tightness by putting freaking zippers and all other sorts of "fasteners" on the end of the leg.

Growing up with an older brother in the 80s (He was 2.5 years older than me, and short). I was always an inch shorter than him, our mother loved by matching outfits for us. Stone wash jackets, flouro and pastel sweatshirts with hideous colourful triangles on them, Silk corduroys, matching flares (In like 1980), you name it, we got it. The 80s to me were a time I would like to forget fashionwise. I mean she wanted us to look like identical twins. When I confronted here with it, she just said "But you boys just looked so cute".

The most garish of these was a wedding we attended in 1982, my brother and I had matching velvet like sweaters and corduroyy pants, except my top was light brown and pants dark brown, his were reversed colours. In 1984 another wedding, we had the same suit except mine was gray and his was black and you get the drift.

I guess I shouldn't moan, she always dressed us well, while she had to put up with hand me downs. Still I would love to upload some photos at some stage.

In January 1980 I was 3.5 and he was 6, by early 1989 I was 13 and he 15, after that we got to choose all our own clothes, I am sure the first thing I chose was this garish pink and white flouro tshirt showing a crocodile with sun glasses on drinking some daiquiri type thing with an umbrella. I don't have it now of course.

Got some kind of love for you, and I don't even know your name

What about those jerseys that were way oversized people wore with one shoulder exposed like in Flashdance and Vanessa from the Cosby show had (Or just watch that to see the stuff Denise was wearing). That was 80s to the bone.
